Now we've all heard the stories of servicemen buying some really big chicken legs over there...Any stray dogs running around? or is that just hear-say?

Could be emu legs. Or ostrich legs, unless it has canine like toes.

Not pleasant memories

That Olongapo is where my Marine buddy talked about, man I heard the stories.

They stopped eating dogs in the 80"s because many were getting rabies. There has been a resurgance.......I saw 2 fresh kills on the road one was still kicking and the locals were waiting for it to stop kicking not risking a dog bite from dinner.
Most people in s.e. asia are poor folks so anytime they get a chance to not starve and eat other than rice they go for it. I ate lots of snails there and they were good. I also liked balut(fertilized duck eggs(tiny chick)

I spent 11 yrs there never saw any oversize chicken legs. They use to sell monkey on a stick many yrs ago but monkeys are all but extinct except in our old officers housing. I also ate grain fed water buffalo and it was very good.

Maybe it was monkey on a stick I was told about, and confused it with eating dog.

I've always felt that the Pacific Rim Women have the best legs on the planet, but they seem to age pretty fast.
