Does anyone prefer back roads? I do. They seem to offer better scenery and hopefully less traffic. Please share your thoughts. I know I am not the only back road fan on trapperman. Thank you for your time. Sometimes I stop and pick up aluminum cans if there is a safe place to pull off. I know back roads are not necessarily the most direct route but I think it helps my sanity, LOL.

I'm a solid backroad driving gal. Look at my chevy lookin out thread.lol I could get to work on a faster route but I prefer the backroads... even if I do have to leave an extra 20 minutes early. Backroads definitely keep me sane..and I stop and.pick up cans along the way too most trips. It's scary run..were kinda....I dunno...alike???

It depends where I am going. On longer trips I usually take the quickest route till I get bored. Then I do a backroad stint to clear my mind for a while.

it used to drive my wife nuts I new every county road and I had ways to get close to the same time getting to my parents , from having done a lot of Friday night commutes back to my parents house for the weekend.
what was the point of going 65 jsut to sit in a pile up for 40 minutes as you got the interchange , a pleasant relaxed drive through the corn was much easier.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I always take the back roads. I avoid the state hwys as much as possible. I drive at 40-45mph am in no rush. Being retired and having the time makes a big difference. I agree 100%. I'm retired too and have nothing but time on my hands. I usually drive 30mph on the back roads around here. Most back roads are gravel and full of potholes. And going slower you can see animals easier. And besides at my age I have only 1 speed. SLOW!!
WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO TRAP!

I'm with the majority here, it appears. I'm headed over to the Snake River Canyon tomorrow for some catfishing. I've no choice on most of the way but to take paved roads. Wherever I can, though, I take to the dirt. It's 380 miles but takes me all day, with a significant part of the drive at 25 mph. However, no other traffic (sometimes, another truck or two). I catch snakes, watch birds and coyotes. I avoid interstates at all costs.

Yes, I will always learn the back roads and alternate routes wherever I may be. However I despise slow roads and the drivers that make them slow. Roads are for getting somewhere so get out of my way. This! Keith

Jack It's tough to drive fast with those binos over your eyes!! Slow roads are great for riding horses on. Have enjoyed many of them. Though I'm also known for riding right down the main streets in towns too. Have never had anyone object , people wave and I wave back. Everyone seems to like the nostalgia of a horseman no matter where they are. Even people in downtown New York City like the sight of mounted police and carriage tour drafts ! Every road on a horse is a "slow road "

I frequently do. Better scenery, better food at those Mom/Pop places, bargains to be had at the yard sales and rural stores.
