To get 500 or 1000 rounds of .223 or .556 for a decent price? After reading White's post I'd think I'd like to get some.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

What’s decent? Best I’ve found is anywhere from .48-.52 cents per round. That'll work

Is .556 BTHP 68 gr match by Horandy Frontier a good round? Better than nothing. I'd want a barrel with at least a 10 twist for that long of a bullet. (if accuracy is a concern)

The Bomgaars farm supply store in Valentine Nebraska has more .223 ammo than you could shoot in a lifetime. Not sure what the price was.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

https://fenixammo.com/collections/training-ammo/products/223-5-56mm-55gr-fmjbt-1you can get to right about 53 cents a round with shipping that is about as good as it gets right now if you need to get les quantity at a time and locally look for the Frontier 5.56 from Hornady running about 12 dollars a box of 20 or about 60ish cents a round a touch more with tax but you can get what you can afford each week as it has been reasonably available around here not every store has it.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I only have 1 rifle in .223, that's a NEF single shot, it's finicky with with ammo. I need to play more with it this summer. I would like to settle on a whitetail deer round and a coyote varmit round before I stock too much. Probably more a 150 yard shot for most of my hunting grounds. Does not like the generic FMJ stuff.
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

.45 to .55 is pretty typical around here for 55gr fmj
