I used to know every back road and roadside black raspberry patch for miles. Since moving here 8 years ago I am slowly learning all over again. Even using my old GPS I have found some county roads that just dead end into a cotton field and have to back track as you can't get there from here. I also found the raspberries are hardly any found in my travels but there are tons of black berries.

Unless on a long trip I seldom ever use an interstate. I take all the back roads I can in my daily travels. Which is a lot. Drives my wife nuts sometimes as she never knows where we are. LOL

Sharon, back in the 70's I bought a small black pony and cart. I would drive her all over the small town I lived near. Even was in the local paper sitting at the drive through window at the bank. LOL

Also had a white mare broke to pull. I rebuilt a sleigh while in HS and went to see my girlfriend one day in the sleigh. About a ten mile trip. We rode that sleigh for hours and again was in the local papers. LOL Her dad wasn't impressed though. He hated me for some reason.

Going to and from the Smoky Mountains in east TN. I traveled through 6 states not including TN or AR. I'm a fan when I can.

That was fun for you, I'm sure !

In many countries, and this country too, seeing carts and wagons pulled by drafts and mule drafts are a useful and enjoyable sight. In this country, the carts are most often in tours of scenic city or big town areas, while the wagons are still time honored in transporting barrels of beer to pubs in other countries.

Not a few stories of the driver falling asleep or getting distracted , and the team walking on to their next pub stop, right on time , doing their whole route then walking back to their barns, with no driver smile

For myself, it has been really fun stopping in front of my hairdresser's big front window and waving hello, tooling through the local gas station, or in other larger towns, stopping in the drive through to pick up some food on the go . Right in the middle of traffic all round. It's almost like the bikers in traffic, only better.

There is no such thing here.
There is One road that connects the towns. Its called the Trans Canada highway.
Then there are logging roads, bush roads, winter roads, and trapping trails that dont go anywhere except into the bush, and normally pass by numerous lakes before ending at a big river or just turn into a winter road/trail on the other side.etc.and keep going.

That's me. smile exept for the stop for cans part. smile

Just took the 3 year old to daycare. He picks between the short and long “bumpy way” (gravel). We can take paved roads all the way, but he prefers the backroads. Teach em young.

Used to love the two trackers years ago , but hard to find even a gravel road around here any more .
Have to go a few hundred miles to get to good back roads any more .

30mph on a 55mph two lane ain't cool. Not when I'm in the quarter mile long backup behind you trying to get somewhere.

That happened today.

If your traveling the back road two lane 55mph and drive 30mph and hold up traffic, pull over let all the others by.

Apparently you are not in a hurry to go from A to B, like some others.

Here we call it going on tour. Grab a 6 pack and drive the backroads. Nothing too crazy!
