You don't need that extra leg. Just weld on a washer about 3" up from the bottom of the rod.

Depends on your ground.. hard soil types, washer is all you need, sandy/muddy ground you'll need the leg. Or use wood supports.

Would wrap the wire around the top of your rod to keep the stress off the weld.

Yes they will work well for you in non frozen ground!! They wont work in Frozen Rocky Ground where I trap!! Most people up North are using a John Graham style snare support.

If you use heavier rod and know how to weld/know a good welder you can beat those into frozen ground/trees fairly well, especially if you sharpen the points.

I don't snare a lot but when I need a support this is what I do. Groove cut in bottom of stake and heavy support wite drove in ground. Bends wire in u shape when driven in ground.

I use 1/4X1/4 square stock. I have holes and slots lazer cut In the stock to accept my wire. No welding and will drive Into frozen ground with no problem.

I do like yes sir. i made a bunch of supports like yours wolf dog and they work great. but get to be a tangled mess after bouncing around in my pick up a few days. Sometimes just driving in a piece of #9 is to flimsy. have to get creative then. your an imaginative guy. often tie wire doubled up then wrapped around the cable hung off whatever is handy will work.

Not for me! I like a light wt., clean, non tangle, straight 1/4" rod, #9 or #11 wire, with a simple anti spin device! Easy to set up and can be pulled out of frozen ground with vise grips and hammer!! A great system for supporting snares. I have used them by the Hundred's.

Don't hay driven ground but we do have sun baked red clay lol

You do good work WD91 ground conditions are always different from one area to another. just find what works best for you.

That's the name of the game ! Actually after messing with these a little I found a big law I. Them in the fact I didn't wrap the wire around and expose the top like usual. When the ground is concrete like it it's now you can't just step them in gotta nail em.

Dont use any kind of stuff like that here.lots of brush to tie off to and to kill with.
Plus ground is like granite 6 months a year.

Supports give you the option to set where ever you want to not where you have to.

I dont run all over the country after them I bring em in to good natural spots to gang set.Thats where i want em.

I was going to build a bunch of snare supports until I found them a the local trap supply store for $1.95/ea.... $20/dz... I can't even build them for that!
