Any woodchuck live trap guys out there with a good bait recommendation for the cage? Thanks, Ed.

Past woodchuck poopies really season a trap well.

Other than that, we don't use bait. We rely on trap placement.

Apples, watermelon, sweet corn with husks pulled down halfway, carrots, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, and a friend says dill pickles.

However, since you did not ask about it - I rarely ever use bait. Maybe once every couple years in a very strange situation. Like a groundhog gets into a basement.

No bait necessary. It's been 14 years since I used bait for chucks. Got 142 a few years ago, no bait. Cages or conibears, bait is not needed. Set the dens, set the trails, set the digouts, or set a dirty trap.

I normally use stairs or body grips but my boys wanted to try a box trap I told them apiece of apple and it worked jus fine.

Adding a touch of GHog gland lure to any lured or baited cage set up speeds up the catch rate significantly. A Ghog gland lure is also a very good predator lure as well. Where there are Ghogs predators hunt them hard if available they are a staple food in the East.

Hardly ever use bait, but if I do just diced apples.

However, I do almost always use Bobs trailing scent.
