After tagging my big chocolate I wasn’t ready to be done bear hunting so I got some permission and set a farmland bait so I could get a second tag. Laid eyes on this big guy about a week after I set it. He was feeding at 230 pm as I walked into bait. Since then it’s been cat and mouse. June 29 Sask second last days of spring bear seaosn and my last day to hunt. Had been an uneventful evening had a yearling around and that been it. This bait only had three bears so I wasn’t going to see many. 7 minutes of shooting light he marched into the bait cracking branches shaking trees and that was all she wrote. Quick rough of 20 1/8 this morning before he hit the freezer. A spring season I’ll never forget with a chocolate that’s 19 10/16 green and a big black that pushing 20

Another nice big bear Sask. Is the pelt any good? End of June here most are rubbed.Big ones seem to stay good longer.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Great bears this year. Do you have to pull a tooth for aging by the province? Be cool to know how old No we don’t. I actually ordered a kit and am sending a tooth to be aged for my chocolate and I think I’ll send one away for this guy too

Great job Sask. congrats! We had a pile of fun bear hunting this spring too. Hope you had a good hunt. Myself and a few others in this area experienced way slower baits this spring then usual

Great job Sask. congrats! We had a pile of fun bear hunting this spring too. Hope you had a good hunt. Myself and a few others in this area experienced way slower baits this spring then usual We didn’t actually kill anything because we waited on one giant black and another real big cinnamon but they never showed when the stand was occupied. All in all the bait was busy with at least twenty different bears hitting it, ten of them being every shade of colour you see black bears wearing.
