This is an ongoing point of contention at our house. I don't care for the beef dogs at all and wife can't stand the chicken/pork ones.

The Mennonite stores up here carry JFM products. Can't say I've had their hot dogs, but the bologna and bacon are very good

Just gotta be natural casings.

Zweigle makes a good product. Not all beef but their White Hots were something special. This thread has me craving one, might have to get some shipped out here.

I personally like the cheap, mixed meat hot dogs best as hot dogs. Most butcher shops, that do custom butchering, make good beef "hot dogs", but they generally don't seem like a real hot dog to me. At some point a hot dog becomes some other sort of sausage.

This thread made me get a 16 pack of ballpark angus. Never had them-ill report back tomorrow with reviews from me and a 3 year old.

Not a big fan of hotdogs. I always liked the bratwurst and polish sausages that you can really only find at good local butchers. To me the big name brands at grocery stores just can’t compare to a good family owned butcher shop. You can’t get that type of quality on that big a scale.

Now I really crave a white hot. Thanks guys.

I'm thankful I live in an area with a huge selection of great sausage varieties. I don't have to think about what cased floor sweepings are the best. Just the thought of eating a hot dog makes my stomach do flips. I'll stick with bratwurst, kielbasa, meustripen, just about anything other than hot dogs.

We call those "Coneys" here .

I grew up in Niagara County and they called them white hots there. There was a hot dog stand called Reed's in Lockport and people came from all over the country to eat their white hots.
