I know this question has been asked a lot, but I'm trying to find out if you can use your Sports man number from the game commission as an Id on your trap tags. It's my understanding that they don't issue special numbers anymore, and I'd rather not use my home address. I know the book say's either your name and address, or another number issued by the game commission. Thanks

It's a separate number they issue now for trap tag and also for marking treestands on public land. I forget exactly how to get to it on their website, but a quick Google search should find it. It's issued to you and different than your CID number on your license

Not the answer you're looking for but I have to have name and address on mine so I wrap mine up tight writing down on a chain link so it's not out there for the world to see and then wire it so both the wire and tag has to be unwrapped for anyone to look at it. You can tell if anyone has unwrapped it after they are dyed or painted usually too.

I see you’re in PA… several years ago they came out with a Trapper ID number. They don’t do them anymore. As stated above, they now have a number that they call “Equipment ID”. If you log into their online license sales site “huntfishpa” once you answer the 58,000 questions to get in, you’ll see an overview, or be able to navigate to an overview- this is where you’ll find that Equipment ID number. If you had a Trapper ID number from the past, you can use that. Otherwise, you can use that Equipment ID, CID, or personal info which I believe is Name, address, and phone number. I recently spoke with my districts Game Commissioner and she reached out to several WCO’s to verify, but ANY number issued by the PGC is valid for use. Hope this helps!

CountryCletus, Bottom right-hand corner of your license is your Equipment ID#. That is now the official trapping number if you choose not to use name and address. There was a publication put out last winter from the PGC about this. You will be good to go. If you have question text me.
