I want to raise the viscosity of one of my lures. As of now, at 50 degrees or above, it turn to pure liquid. What is the recomended amount to say around a quart of lure?

Well I will share my findings. I now have 4 Tablespoons in 3 cups of runny lure. At 70 degrees its still a slop but better. I put it in the freezer for a spell and its pretty stiff. Normal trapline temps I think it will be fine.

Does'nt Lanolin have an "odour".
You will change the smell of the lure No?

I've never played with Lanolin but if your lure has a lot of water in it the Lanolin might not mix with it as good as you might want

Lanolin is not a good thickener unless it is used as the base material and the other ingredients are compatable. If the material being treated is not already viscous in nature the lanolin won't give you the best or the most desired result.

Lanolin can also alter the existing lure odor to some degree, but that may be desirable ? There are better options and choices to thicken a product without altering the original formula odor.

Lanolin does not blend well with some water soluble materials and in most cases needs heating to work it up.

Yes a slight odor in lanolin. Not enough to effect this lure and may help as its for coyotes. This lure has only fats, oils and greases in it and seems to have mixed well. I think I can get PMs if I send one first? Thanks fellas.

I’ve used gelatin to thicken runny base materials with really good success.

Just be sure to use a blender that goes fast enough to reverse the space-time continuum, and add the gelatin SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY.

How does the gelatin hold up in say, 50 plus degrees?

The right commercial viscosity agent will do what you want. It will let your product sweat but will retain the products stability in higher temp exposure.

You may have to make a change in your account messaging settings to receive private PM's. Some don't like to post specific materials openly online, it may benefit you to get that fixed.
