I have run into something here in ANC that seems both incorrect as well as concerning for rural residents.

I bought an 18 cu ft freezer at Lowe's a couple days ago and told them to deliver it to Lynden for transport to MCG. "No problem" they said.AA reg..

I called Lynden and they said there is no such regulation. So I told Lowe's to deliver it anyway since Lynden has no issue with delivering it.

Lowe's still refuses to take it to Lynden. I also called Desert Air and they too have no problem flying it.

Has anyone else run into this ? How are we supposed to get freezers off the road system if air is not an option ? My suggestion is that if you need a new freezer, you better get it now before this nonsense takes root.

I have searched online and can find no mention of this new restriction or regulation in any FAA documents.

Was just wondering about the alleged "restrictions". More likely, store policy.

OK Here is what I found out.

Apparently the greenies have forced a change in the refrigerant used in SOME freezers....but all eventually. FAA has issued a new regulation that prohibits air transport of more than 3.5 ounces.......yes... OUNCES.........of this new coolant. I think it's called A130 or similar. Anyway..........the freezer I bought held 3.8 ounces so was a flammable hazard for some reason........I guess the extra. .3 ounces is really dangerous laugh

So the delivery company would not deliver it to the airport, and Lowe's would not give it to the delivery company even though Lynden was OK accepting it and flying it.

So I got the refund and went to SBS and bought a bigger freezer, with a different refrigerant,, for the same price, and it was delivered to Lynden about two hours later.

So if you are looking to have a freezer or refrigerator flown somewhere, be sure to check first on the particular unit and the refrigerant.

Anybody still wondering why the SCOTUS told the EPA to pump the brakes and let Congress (not unelected bureaucrats) make "law...?"

Geesh!

I considered that but have you tried renting any vehicle in Anchorage lately ? You'll need Pete's tax returns for the last three years and a cosigner............if you can even find anything to rent.

Hadn't thought of that. Maybe give Hoopy a call, if he's still around.

So how did they know you planned to fly it? Maybe you worked for Lynden and the freezer was to be used at the facility. Are freezers outlawed at the airports now? I just can't die soon enough!

I have nothing clever to put here.
