alright, we moved to a new area, and these wasps are relentless in building new nests in my shed. I no sooner knock one down (thank Goodness they aren't very aggressive!), and they're building two more!

any way to dissuade them, or encourage them to go elsewhere?

Permethrin or Bifen sprayed on the surface will discourage them and Bifen will keep spiders away too.

Paper wasp's or dirt daubers? Dirt daubers are almost friendly, and they will eat ton's of bugs. Those big orange SOB paper wasps are viscous. A can of foamy spray wasp killer is your best friend. Just knocking the nest down won't get rid of them, you need to spray the nest.

Don't fret Tree man, they are harmless and helpful.

Mud daubers are good solitary wasps to have around. They are a shiney iridescent blue/ black color. They are not aggressive by nature. They just do their own thing.

They primarily prey on small spiders. They sting them with a sedation venom that keeps them alive until their eggs hatch and turn into larvae. The larvae feed on the sedated spiders. They develop and the life cycle starts over. They feed on much of the same insects that wrens do in this area.

We encourage our clients not to kill or worry about them. You can knock the tubes down once they hatch. No damage done.

They are a very interesting wasp. They bring in the mud and dry it with a super drying technique. They fan their wings extremely fast much like a humming bird to blow dry and activate the bonding agent contained in the mud.

If you ever hear this process it most likely will get your attention

These guys are the brown wasps. They have not been really aggressive, but I'm still not a fan.

Brown wasps will sting you, totally different reaction and mode of defense compared to a dauber.

Brown wasps will nest in an open bottom canopy grey paper nest in eaves, over hangs , soffits etc. Usually elevated areas.
