Many paints are getting expensive and even hard to find but you can still get it at some Menards stores for $40.00 a gallon for the rusty metal primer. This rusty metal primer sticks out like a sore thumb in water. The last batch I mixed 2 parts rusty metal primer to 1 part flat black 50/50 acetone and it came out dark mud brown.

I may only have a couple dozen that could use a new dipping. I have not dipped my water traps for 4 seasons and this will be the 5th. I am surprised and happy how the thin coat really lasts. Most of the traps that need dipping are ones that hold coons.

If spay paint was available 150 years ago, traps would be painted. They just didn't have that option, so dye and wax became tradition.

Learning and loving trapping.

That's all I use Is latex paint. One gallon of paint to 2 gallons of water. If your not fussy as to color you can get a gallon of what they call miss matched paint for a few bucks.

Keep stirring since the paint likes to settle out.
