Coon Creek outdoors has a few videos and he loves them I think he's got 4 sizes he made. Video are great to watch I tried a 4 inch PVC pipe and didn't like it. I now have a 12 inch PVC that I'm going to cut a 8 or 9 inch wide fleshing board out of and try. Good luck with yours

The price of pvc is thru the roof now!! The price of everything is through the roof right now, if you can afford a roof that is.

Made mine out of 6". I like it, but I think bigger pipe would have a better arc. I like the way it flexes, sometimes, but all in all it works for me. I'm not a seasoned finisher any means though.

Mine is made out of an 8" pipe and like it a lot as it seems to work out good for everything I put on the boards. Check with some of the excavators who do sewer and water. Sometimes they damage a pipe or replace a damaged one that'll work.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Seems to me that when you run off the edge of the hide It would be a bit tough on your knifes edge. The other thing I question Isn't the pipe to round. My wood beam Is just about flat with just the edges tapered down.

The price of pvc is thru the roof now!! Ask your local municipality. The town gave me a piece of 12" that was 6 foot long

My wood beam Is just about flat with just the edges tapered down. The bigger the pipe, the flatter it is. Mine is made out of 14in well casing and has a slight curve. It is much heavier than sewer pipe, mine is over a 1/2 inch thick. I've never had a problem with running the sharp edge of my knife off the hide.

I cannot remember where I got it but mine is made of fiberglass. It came as a shell and I had a friend modify a 2" pine board (2x6 or 2x8) for it to fit on. It came with a hinged bracket to mount to the wall. Have used it for about a dozen years and really like it.
