Any one tried this? Too much spring for a #2 trap?

Till that day.....

That will depend on the trap, but IMO it's not needed. #2 springs are all you need for critters you target with a #2 sized trap. That goes for all sizes IMO.

Might get some lever twisting. Wouldnt think any modern traps would have issues with frame twisting but baseplating might be needed .

If you want to add coils to your #2' s. 4 coil your traps. Will also help a bit for lever twisting.

No need to put bigger coils on. #2 springs are plenty strong enough to hold anything you are gonna catch, unless you’re after wolves or bears. I’ve held lots and lots of coyotes in traps with #2 springs.

If the #2 springs are weak from age and use, 4 coiling is a far better option.

Not needed.
I took the extra springs off my new Bridger 2 4x4s and used them on coyotes just fine. Saved the springs so when they get weaker I’ll beef them up. Folks put too much stock on spring overkill I believe. Good set, committed weight to fire, they ain’t going anywhere if you get a whole foot in.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
