Some materials will solely act as a desiccant and will just absorb avaiable moisture to be contained within that material. Natural occurring and some man made gums, and thickeners etc. will do a good job.

The challenge is establishing the correct volume for the desired result. Gums will also provide the sticky consistency many times sought in a lure or bait.

Guar gum sticks out like a sore thumb. Tried it once. If just messing with coon go cheap .
