I had some expensive frogg togg chest waders but I put a hole in the boot part while fishing, so I am in the market for a pair of waders for this winter. Would you guys recommend getting a pair of chap style waders like dans froglegs or yoder super chaps, or a pair of lacrosse hip boots? I can't stand to wear heavy footwear which is why I was looking at the chaps but I have read some things on here about them not keeping you very dry, most of the time I am in knee deep water but sometimes I have to go up to my thighs to push in a stake or get to a new spot. My trapline is almost 50/50 land and water trapping so They need to be comfortable for the entire day as well, I don't want to have to take them on and off or would just get another pair of chest waders. What do you reccomend?

I have used the Yoder and the Dan‘s chaps Both are lightweight, comfortable and both leak. I now have un insulated lacrosse, they have lasted almost a year and I just got my first little leak that would be an easy repair if I were inclined to fix it. They have lasted well as I have nearly walked the tread off of the bottom beaver trapping.

The Dan's are like the old Wick's froglegs. Made for coonhunters who will be crossing creeks and sloughs, not for standing in water making sets. Work great for what they are made for and hold up well to briars and barb wire, but will leak if you try and use them like waders or hip boots to stand in the water for extended periods. I like a heavy duty pair of rubber hip boots, Lacrosse makes some. I want the ones that are stout enough the tops will practically stand up on their own, anything lighter I've had problems with sticking beaver sticks through. MB sells some good ones, it is where I got my last set. Insulated or Uninsulated will depend on where and when you plan on using them.
