You know I usually I HATE the term beat or perfect when talking about guns ,bows, fishing rods anything really . Mainly because I I'm kinda perticular and I like to tinker. And and being my size I really have some just work for me out the box. But I'll tell you every now and then I get something that is basically perfect. Its rare but it happens.
Which leads me to this. Imo one of the most perfectly made guns has to be a wood stocked Ruger 10/22.

The dang things JUST WORK. My dad had one , sighted in the iorns, put a sling on it, slapped a $30 3-9 on it and made sure it could hit a coke can @30yd. And if that thing came out the case , crap was dying. No if ands or buts.
Well I got one three years ago, basically the same gun ,with the intention of modding it up with all sorts of crap barrels ,stocks, triggers, ect. Well added a after marked pic rail so the scope sat over the iorns better , added a sling and a cheap little 3-9..... And we'll haven't wanted to mess with it since.

I can put that thing in a rest feed it CCI target and it will one hole every single round @25yd. Devours about everything elese I fees it with no issues, I can bust crows out to 100yd with the mil dot all day ,it's light enough I can carry it on the line no problem. Heavy enough I can shoot off hand and it not sway, it's not super loud , the stock just plain fits, tho the cheek weld ain't the best though Grip fits the had nicely. I mean it's just boringly perfect.
I mean you wanted to put money on some rim fire shooting no frills , I'd probably grab the 10/22 9/10 times

So in y'all's books,what's a perfect gun ?

I've got a Remington 788 in 222. Bought about 10 years ago at an auction. Bet it didn't have a box of shells shot through it when I bought it. Put a cheap scope on it I had laying around and had the trigger worked on then put it away and never really shot it other than halfway sighting it in. Got it out this summer because the boys wanted to shot it. With just plain Jane Remington core lok bullets that thing is scary accurate at a 100yds. My step son had never shot anything bigger than the 22 and he picks it up and shot a 1/2 group with 3 shots the very first time. They think it's the coolest gun we own now. Was thinking about selling it last winter till some on here talked me out of it.

Tikka T3 Light. The best factory trigger I have ever shot. It is light and seems to shoot all ammo well. Mine is a 270 WSM and my buddy has a 308. It is the only rifle I hunt with anymore.

Hard to beat a good Ruger 10/22 Wolfie. Very versatile and can be used in many applications. I bought a Ruger 10/22 Take Down from a buddy years ago, and carry it in my truck and on the SxS every time I head out. For a while the lack of accessibility to 22 ammo was an issue, at least here in KY, but that seems to have resolved now. It is definitely one of my “go to” platforms.

For deer, I have had a Weatherby 7mm REM Mag I’ve used for 25+ years. Killed deer and black bear with it. Had a buddy talk me into getting a Tikka 6.5mm Creedmoor, and I’ll tell you what…. The ease of firing and accuracy is amazing….

Just my 2 Pennies……

Had one painted with camo on the stock and one with the plain stock and they're my favorite guns but they had to return to their rightful home (Grandparent's house) so now I'm stuck with my '70s Rossi pump action which is still a great gun but it's definitely a little on the wonky side, especially with the slam fire. We have a newer 10/22 that is a few years old with a scope that is sighted out to 100 yards and the thing isn't even close to the older ones, we also have a Ruger precision and that thing shoots like a dream and if it wasn't such a pretty gun I would use it on the trapline.

I'm not a big gun guy, but when I read your title, the first gun that popped into my head was a Ruger 10/22. I still have my Dad's and my kids have a couple. They have been bullet proof for me.

10/22 is a hard one to make any good argument against. Yep.

10/22 mags suck to stick Iin your pocket. There I said something bad about them. There are 2 of them at my house one laminated pink that's my wife's and a youth in brown wood with the clear coat removed where your hands hold it where the bug dope at it off during early season squirrel hunting that is my 20 year old daughter's.

I like my 1979 model 39a but it's a touch heavy, the trigger is heavy, and to unload I can't easily just take the round out of the chamber without completely uploading it. Wanted one for years found a deal on one at an auction and now I think ist just ok.

My interest change and I don't think there is a perfect gun out there for me.

I like the 10/22 also although I don't see it as perfect out of the gait , it needs a little clean up but a really great place to start from

really anything has to be setup for the shooter a few are really close out of the box for some people

it is perfect because of it's ability to be the base for really any direction you want to take it

this one I set up for Appleseed stuff and it does AQT and rim-fire KD excellent with the CCI SV

I wouldn't mind a stock with a more vertical grip angle but this one works

one of my favorite shotguns
couldn't be a more plane jane M500 as it's start , now wears a morgan pad and has a 20 inch vent rib barrel with choke tubes

it fits the shooter and the task.

Winchester Model 12. I've been shooting them for over 57 years. Only broke 1 firing pin over those years. My oldest is a 1919 two barrel set and my newest is a 1972 Y model skeet. There are two dozen in between those years sitting in my safes.
