It's not for me but it should do ok. Don't stop trying or looking for better ways, learning. It's what makes us all better trappers.
For me, I don't think its a good idea to have the swiveling for coyotes, it'll lead to chew outs. Some states you have to have swivels though, but most of those states wouldn't allow a 3/4" rod sticking up to potentially tangle on.
Just a couple unsolicited tips,,,, I don't like those support collars at all, they don't hold tight enough to the support wire. A real metal wammy being the best IMO followed by tubing of some sort as a viable option. Also a small loop vs. a sharp bend in the end of your snare will lead to smoother, faster closing snares.
I use 1/2" rebar like Yes Sir mentioned but with my set up they are designed to kill the coyotes ASAP to reduce chances of them chewing out.

Wondering what is point for 42" of 3/4" rod if it's not for entanglement, wouldn't a trap stake serve the same purpose with your support collar?

I appreciate the creativity. But it's a lot of extra weight to carry, takes up room, and I can just wrap a wire around a stick that I find on the ground just as easily.

Love that collective photo of your catch DTB. Keep up the hard work and have a good time. Look forward to seeing your future catches. 20 yotes on 7 acres is impressive

DonnyTrapperBoy, I like the fact that you're thinking about different/better ways to do things......and you're sharing it.
This is more than many trappers will do as you can see from some of the posts above. Some even sound jealous.
Keep after 'em!!!
