The boxes looked like this? Cleaning out my dads house and found these in a closet. Only 6 rounds shot out of it. It's the last box of shells he bought. He used them in a mid 70's model 870,that I have now. It's like new for some reason.
WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO TRAP!

Heck, I am still shooting those! I even still have some old Holiday brand paper shells to burn up.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I bought CASES of Alcan field loads on sale @ $.79 a box back in the late 70's, and still have some left!

Back when I was young guy before they started the steel shot thing. I would buy a case of Remington SPs in 6 shot before duck season. I split it with a buddy we would shoot the six shot at start season. Then load cases back with little heavier magnum load in 4 shot. I always had good mix of new and used casing. Plenty of shot shells both new and reloads for the season. Them plastic casing back then had paper base wads. First started reloading the pick ups from the marsh. Got schooled on keeping them out water. Learn needed to not just throw any casing in the reloading bin. Had few bloopers with wet powder from base wad. So had several boxes going to throw empties in at home. Make sure they were dry knock the primers out put them under a lamp. Reload from box been sitting longest. No more bloopers.

When shotgun shells came 20 boxes per case. I was buying AA 410 shells 1/2 oz of 9 shot for $35 a case of 20 boxes. I sold the empties for three cents a piece. So I shot them for a buck a box if I saved empties.

Had to dig into my stash. The super-speeds are 264 win mags, box says 3700 fps. The federal are paper.

These were the first plastic shotgun shells I ever saw. These are even before Remingtons power pistons were a thing. Sometimes I just look at them and my mind goes back to memories of the good old days. I remember Shur Shots. Weren't they low brass shells?

Yes Sir. That is really cool. I'm old enough that I hunted with everything pictured. However my rifle of choice back then was a .270. I'm young enough I bought them at an auction thinking maybe they were civil war era. LMAO!! Thats funny!
