Do you fill it up all the way or half way? I ask because a animal is robbing my bait and not getting caught! This happend 3 times so far.

I generally put a marshmallow under the trigger and set one on top. Sometimes the top one is gone, and the other untouched.

If the bait under the trigger is gone, it is likely mice. You could try the golf ball trick, or start bait trapping.

Flying squirrels and rats will rob you blind down here. If you set that DP with a hair trigger you’ll find out what it is. I generally only have to worry about it with when using corn or peanuts as bait. Ants will also clean out cat food in a day or two.

I like just past the trigger. I want the first or second time the animals reaches in to get caught and I don't want to feed rhem or any bait stealers. I don't seem to have much bait stealing with this method

Try different bait maybe. Golf ball on top.

Like K Snow said put a big marshmallow under the trigger. I also put just a little of my bait on top of that , something for everyone that way .

I'll try some marshmallows - today it's 4 times the bait been stolen!!.

go to walmart and buy a bag of dry roasted peanuts in the shell, plain or salted. place 2 peanuts under the trigger, put some bait on top, I never fill the whole trap. they will eat your bait but get caught trying to pull the peanuts out. good luck

Now that’s something I haven’t thought of! I’m gonna give that a try next time I set. The marshmallow stabbed on the trigger works during the colder times of the year when ants are dormant. But, the whole peanut under the trigger would work great during late Spring and Summer.

Guss, move the trap 4-6' down the trail. Knock down the grasses around it and only push the stabilizer in the ground to the bottom of the washer, less than 1/2 way in the ground. This gives you time before the mice locate the trap again and makes it harder for them to access the bait without putting something on the top of the trap to hinder a coon getting to the bait. Bait your trap close to dark if you can, or if you can't use more bait in the trap, fill it to the top, if the mice still get to it somehow, maybe there will still be some left by dark when the coons get there.

When I am trapping in mouse territory, I fill a coat pocket with grain of some sort like bird seed. I scatter it around so that they have to work for it. They would rather have the grain than my DP bait.

Has anyone used those coon grabbers you set under the trigger? Im gonna be ordering a few things before the season starts and that listed as one of the free gifts. Just curious if they work or are more of a gimmick.

I throw some corn around it seemed to work,but nothing there I just think the mice were munching on the corn. I gonna try a different place.
