Aside from .22 and 2 3/4" 12 gauge I reload my own rifle ammo. If I had to by my ammo finding .222 Reminton would be very difficult to find these days. Besides having my own brass in .222 I was able to get 400 new primed cases of Winchester brass at a good price. The company was selling them 200 cases per bag. I also stocked up on small rifle primers, so I am good for any rifle ammo I shoot. Glad my dad taught me how to reload. Glad I paid attention.

Mostly, but the prices are stupid high.
I'd like to find some 2 1/2" #4 .410 for around $8 a box or less. That seems like hardest to find in this area.

Folks go to Walmart. They have a lot of ammo, my local one had more ammo than every sporting goods store combined. Ammoseek can be your friend if you are not supporting the local shop. Also recommend reloading, Ive switched my hunting bullets to all bonded and copper only. 6.8 SPC, 20 gauge, 5.7 and my 50 cal muzzle loader. We have VERY different Walmarts. Ours has 350 Legend. And this is IT for centerfire.

just got some trap loads 2 boxes that was all the store had left , seeing ,more but not out of the woods yet
have gotten some 22lr cci mini mags recently 22lr seems to be getting better
glad I bought pheasant loads this spring to cover this year haven't seen any since about June
prices well just accept that when they print lots more money your money will be worth less.
seeing some primers but at 80+ a K
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

You best bet is order them. They are hit and miss at the normal on line retailers. Lately small rifle has been available along with small pistol. In cci. Large rifl I hav not seen in a few weeks. Prices are about 100 per 1000 pluss hazmat though. Yeah not THAT desperate YET. 20 ga clay loads aren't available Got plenty of them, no hunting loads though

hahahahahahaha #4s, $8.00/box. Sorry ADC, gave me a huuuge chuckle. Only thing in 410 around here is #9, $17.00/ box 20 ga clay loads aren't available Walmart have Federal 20ga #8s and 7 1/2s Had to pull the trigger on the only 2 boxes at Wally World ... 20 ga 1oz lead #6s = $19/box. All shotgun shells limited to 3, unlimited on everything else. Been able to find everything from 17 HRM to 300 Win Mag that I need except 22-250 and large rifle primers.

There is a good article about the ongoing ammo shortage in the current issue of the Pennsylvania Game News. They spoke with a bunch of ammo industry bigwigs and, in a nutshell, ammunition manufacturers have recovered from Covid shortages in materials and labor and are cranking out more ammo than ever before. Hornady production is up 30%, Sig Sauer expanded its Arkansas plant last year and Ammo Inc. broke ground on a new ammo plant last June in Wisconsin. Vista Outdoor, parent company of Federal, Hevi-Shot, Remington and Speer is running 24/7 to meet customer demands.
They all agree that the unprecedented spike in ammunition demand has been and still is the issue. They point to the 21 million new guns Americans bought in 2020. 2.3 million of those guns were sold in March of that year alone.
An NSSF survey showed about 40% of those 21 million gun buyers were first time firearm owners. If each one of those 8.4 million people bought one 50-round box of ammunition, that comes out to more than 420 million rounds. If all 21 million bought just one box of 50, that comes to over 1 billion rounds. And that’s a conservative estimate of demand.
They talked about the shortages getting better and ammunition becoming more available but, mentioned that popular hunting gauges and calibers remain hard to come by. And the reason for that is that more than half of the firearms sold in any given year are handguns. And they’re bought largely for recreational target shooting and self-defense. The ammo makers have been cranking out what’s been in greatest demand and that has been 9 mm, .45, .380 and .22. That’s why the availability of hunting rifle calibers has been slower to catch up.
They expect some ammunition is going to continue to be scarce probably throughout the fall but it’s not going to be as bad as it was the last couple of years. They did say that you can expect to pay more for it. Most ammo companies used to raise prices once a year and then only by 2% to 3% to keep up with the cost of living. By comparison several ammo makers increased prices for times in the past 18 months generally by about 10 to 15% each time. That’s why a box of 30-06 once selling for $20 is now $28.
The predictions are that prices will remain high as long as the demand remains high. The folks interviewed generally agreed that prices would begin to drop sometime late next year as the supply slowly catches up with the demand. But, prices are never again going to be where they were 3 to 4 years ago.
Eh...wot?

In past year, have had numerous chances to buy Varget.........including an 8 pounder that I left on the shelf for the blammo blasters. If wanting something to go BANG, and willing to be flexible, this is said to be a near 100% drop in replacement for Varget. I have 2 pounds to try. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020431551?pid=454236A month or so back, was in Iowa and happened to be driving in area of Brownell's, so went in to check on things. Compared to online stuff, retail store major dissapointment, but did have both 1 and 8 pounders of Red Dot and Green Dot, and what floored me, a counter full of primers.......Cheddite 209 and bricks in all sizes of Remington, including 9 1/2 LRP. Cheddite 209 shotgun primers turning up all over. I got some at a local gun store. This was found at Graf's retail store a few weeks back. Point being, if you know where to look, it's out there.

I've been looking for some Benchmark powder that I would like to try in my new .20. Haven't seen any, I did bid a ridiculous price for one pound on Gunbroker, not that desperate yet. I have plenty of other stuff.
Large rifle primers are fairly rare yet.
I was in Scheels this morning. All centerfire was on sale, 3 bucks a box off anything 34.99 and under and 6 bucks if above that. 10 percent off all rimfire and pistol. No 8 dollar a box .410.
