Picked up an older Victor No O today. Never saw one like it. Long spring, cast jaws, cast pan without the V cutout. I had never saw a cast pan Victor before. The chain to spring swivel is cast also. Stamped VICTOR No O PATENTED. Has had some more stamping around the bottom of pan but cant read it. Has old chain like alot of Newhouse traps. Not figure 8 chain. Don't know what you call it. Any idea when this one was made?

I will try to get my wife to put some pics it that will help.

Thanks and God Bless, Louis

Your trap is a "The Victor", second model. The first model was made 1886 to1887. This second model is the most common, it has the two patent dates on the lower edge of the pan, Jan 15, '86 and Jan 25 '87. This second model cast pan was made 1887 to 1898.

Thanks so much snakecollector. Did you mean 1898? Do you have a picture of the first model you could share with us?

God Bless, Louis

Yes, typo, I fixed it.

Here is a photo of the pan of the first model, before the Jan 25, 1887 patent was granted. The Jan 15, 1886 patent is stamped on the bottom of the base.
