Gotta love the Sand Pebbles movie. The book is very good also. Written by Richard McKenna, an old retired enlisted China riverboat sailor. . I didn't know there was a book. I just ordered one. It was a good movie, should be a very good book.
Eh...wot?

You will love it Sharron and if you ask me the remake wasn't terrible. x2 Original was great, remake would have been a pretty good movie, but will always be compared to the original and suffers from the comparision.

Black Spot, if you liked that you might love Open Range. The shoot outs are awesome For a movie, I thought the shootout was close to being realistic.

UPDATE.....finally, I saw Red Dawn. Took me long enough. But when I did, I had the time to watch and compare in thought just how on the spot it was, to these days. With some differences, of course.
The only thing I cringed at, was when the kids wasted far more ammo than saving it in just a couple shots carefully aimed. At least the movie had them not wasting the rifles, grenades, ammo and RPG's , and warm clothes that they picked up from fallen enemy soldiers.
And the part where they just stood in the rocks , staring into the sky, and let the three choppers descend upon them , without having a crevasse to hide in quickly. Or a cave with food and water to keep the horses hidden.
But the producers needed drama I suppose, for some parts.
It was good, and now I see why so many liked the original movie.
Thank you all, for inspiring me to finally enjoy it.

Sarge You never specified a time. They don't need to, China will own us, same as they already own many of our politicians. Add communist influenced rot from within, and the America we grew up in will be but a memory. Already is in many regards.

DaveP. Your right. No bombs or missles needed when you can simply buy America. The balloon was looking for more land. Thats all. No harm according to dumbo's. Sarge It's sad. Saw a piece 40 years ago of a KGB defector who said that the Soviets long term plan was to topple us from within. He said only 7% of the KGBs budget was cloak and dagger stuff. The rest was propaganda. Pit black against white, rich against poor, ridicule religion and family, make people dependent on government. Teachers will push their agenda, once they have the children, all it takes is time. Lawyers become prosecutors, DAs, judges, politicians, justices, and soon are steering the ship. Hard left!!! It happened much faster than anyone ever dreamed.
