How many of you guys use the disposable style anchors on your dog proofs? We mainly anchor off to trees or logs with cable and works good, but times call for setting someplace where it's not possible. What length cable do you use(we have decent soil with very few rocks)and how hard is it to pull them when it's time to move, and what do you use to do so? We don't have a winch on anything so it's by hand. Currently using rebar stakes(18"). Just not wanting to leave anymore behind in the ground than I have to.

I use bullet stakes with retrieval ends. DPs get moved too much to cut and run and the cable and parts worth more than the coon...Retrieval ends makes them really easy to pull unless they get under a rock or root ehich goes for any disposable.

I have a bulldog puller for when they get stubborn but i can pop them out by hand most times with the retrieval end

I use 12 inch cables with wolf fangs. Iff I can't pull them with digging a little they get cut. Don't tie off to trees much

No. I move my DP's way too often to mess with cable stakes. 24" x 3/8" rebar is the only way to go in our soil conditions in Iowa.

With our soil I only have to go down about 6-8” for a coon. Some are cabled off to trees as well. A 20v drill and auger gets them up fairly quick during the winter. A good rain will help during the Summer months. Super stakes work for me.

I like rebar for mine, easier to pull and relocate.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I'm with ADC, rebar stakes. Pound them in, no driver needed. A vise grips on the nut end to pull them out. Easy peasy.

FYI, if I don’t plan to move the trap for a short stint of trapping the earth anchors will hold very well, just not as easy to retrieve.
I do use them for coyote trapping a lot, but those traps tend to be at same location much longer including remakes. Might be at same location well over a month. My coon traps I move around much more frequently than that. I can clean out coons in a few days then catch rate falls quickly…and time to move to next hot location.
FYI…my deal of the day was last night at scheels here in lincoln. A dozen heavy berks on cable, marked at $15 for the bundle. Scheels price matched a general purchase coupon I had from Dicks sporting goods and I walked out of there paying just $6.00 for this bundle. Couldn’t make my own for that.
These will go on whatever and will save me a lot of weight carrying rebar this winter.
