Interesting. Electric cars will eventually make sense for some applications, but not all. To me there are toys. If you had money to burn, have at it. Id love to drive one but, financially and practically they just dont work.

The electric bicycles are looking pretty good. At least you can pedal after the battery goes dead. How long before electric bicycles will be required to be licensed? My rowboat with an electric trolling motor has to be licensed.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Me. My Tesla was $55,000 with the added all wheel drive and self driving added about $6,500.00. I believe the base price without those options was around $35,000 in 2019. It weighs about 3900 lbs., so pretty similar to a Chevrolet Impala. At that weight I have not experienced the premature tire wear. The Model Y is up to 4400 lbs., similar to a Toyota Highlander. Mine just lets me know that an update is available and let’s me do it when I want, so I’m guessing they fixed that. I have no doubt they can shut my car down but that would be tough way to sell cars, and I guess I’ve never worried about it. Chevrolet just announced their equinox EV’s are going to be priced at around $30,000.00 in fall of 2023. I priced a new gas equinox today at $29,000.00. I don’t see spending a bunch more for an EV. For me anyway, they have to save money. I like the power, but I don’t want to spend more to drive one. Salty roads? I have no idea how or if they are affected. And I have not done any long road trips in really cold weather, so I can’t speak for battery performance in really cold temps. I’m one of two collision repair shops in Montana that can fix them and I’ve fixed a bunch. I haven’t yet seen a battery affected yet. I’ve been repairing them for about 3 years and it seems there's always at least one in the shop. With the computerization and sensor calibrations, they are very challenging to fix. It’s all new technology for us too.

No doubt that the torque is present, but you won't be driving that same vechile in 20 years, I presume. I'm not against evs per say, but I don't feel they are conducive for everyday folks.

Widespread adaptation will required upgrades to the grid. I don’t think there is any question. Of coarse, the people pushing the requirements to convert will be railing against nuke plants, as well as coal, gas, etc. It will be interesting to see where they get their power from. For Florida, I like the idea of solar panels to help. I just don’t think I’ll be here long enough to get a payback from the upfront initial investment. They tell me for about $35,000, I can end up with a zero dollar power bill. But that does not include charging a car. You have to be in a house a long time to get that back. The biggest problem I see is battery degeneration. Is your range going to degenerate from 300 to 100 miles between charges as the battery degrades? I tend to drive things until they fall apart on me. I wouldn’t plan that with a battery. I don’t think you go full power, then suddenly die. I’m guessing the distance between charges gradually reduces.

If I had to use an electric truck I would not be able to work and shut my company down. It would be ironic as well to drive the 500 miles to work in one of those toys to fix boats that burn over 40 gallons an hour just for fun. So before I buy one of those, I would buy a donkey and call it Brandon.

Guys, the greenies and dems are simply trying to control the conversation. They, along with their cohort media, control the narrative. Every chance you get try to educate people. The power production conundrum is enough to make any thinking person realize something is amiss.
Just keep talking to the lemmings.

And to anyone who bought an ev, that was your choice. I have nothing good or bad to say about it as it was your money to do with as you wish.
I would ask for any and all real time information. How long to charge? How much did you power bill go up? Actual range? Tire wear? Maintenance schedule? Just information so we can be better informed.
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

The problem is that the lemmings don't think. You may as well try to explain the physics or billiard to a ground hog

I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck in bad winter weather here with one. Wonder how the heat works when you are buried in a drift or stranded due to a blizzard. I’m sure the govt will get you out of that jamb…Idjits….
