Anyone invest in these? They now earn 9.62 % interest.

I know you buy them directly from the government, via a website. $10k max per person per year I think. The penalty for early redemption still makes them attractive. No state income tax on federal bond interest either.

I'd rather keep investing in the market due to my age. If I was older, I'd maybe consider I bonds.

I have invested in I Bonds since 2006. Treasury Direct Site. Nice little way to put something away. I do 25.00 per week. Better then a savings account. Interest starting November might go down to 6 percent. But still a nice way to have something put away.

Hmm I bond's or extra on principle on the rent house morgage or more into the boys brokerage accounts.

Rate on the rent house is 7.2% credit www fried from the medical bills from the wreck that killed my son so could not refinance when raising were low. Corrected credit and was going to refinance but wanted to cut the term fron 11 years to 5. Banks wanted me to add time to 15 and calls out some equity . No thanks
Personal loans for less time raita were not as good. Never refinanced.

Note is about 18 k. Currently profit only $95 over the payments because it's the inlaws renting and insurance just went down.

Looks like a good way to round out a diversified and resilient portfolio. With the largest mutual funds in the world signed onto the UNPRI ( UNITED NATIONS PRINCIPLES OF RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT) it's getting hard to find opportunities to invest where your money wont be used against you with ESG (ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL GOVERNANCE ) any company that signatory to this agreement are using their investors money to leverage corporations policies toward UN environmental social and governance goals instead of prioritising profit . This agreement and its sister agreement UNPRB ( UNITED NATIONS PRINCIPLES OF RESPONSIBLE BANKING) can explain why so many corporations are making woke businesses decisions that don't make any sense.
I would implore every body to look into these agreements and divest from the signatory banks and investment firms . You need to look no further than the destruction of NAFA , the way the banks willingly cooperated with the Canadian government to bring the truckers to heel ,or the credit card companies willingness to adopt a code to track gun and amunition sales to see how these agreements are effecting our lives .

Barron’s and SeekingAlpha. Have posted Ibond rate at 6 percent starting November. So buy your I bonds now. You will get the 9.62 percent for 6 months after your purchase if bought prior to November. After Nov 1st the 6 percent rate kicks in.

I could be wrong here for sure but I believe the 9.62% is good until April of 23. Do you mean November 1, 2023 or 2022?

I thought it changes every Nov and every April?

I didn’t word my quote correctly. If you buy an I Bond on 10/31/2022. It retains the 9.62 interest rate for 6 months. If you buy an I Bond on Nov 1 2022. The 6 percent rate kicks in on any new I Bond purchased after 10/31/2022

And if I understand it correctly, the interest starts in the next period. So if you buy by October 31, you start accruing interest right away on November 1.

If you buy on or after November 1, interest doesn’t start accruing until the next period.

Did I interpret that right?

No. You earn interest on day one of your I Bond purchase. The interest rate depends on when it is purchased. I hope that clarifies it. Yes as quoted above. April and Nov. are the months the I Bond rate interest changes.

The interest isn’t posted until after 90 days to the account but you do earn it The balance showing is what you would get if you cashed out Since there is a 3 month penalty for cashing out before five years they don’t show the first three months
