We are getting his stuff together..he leaves thursday.

Even though he doesnt work in wyoming anymore hes still going to stay in the bunkhouse and trap.

Hes excited to get started.

I know he'll have a successful trip.

Hes got a solid market for marten.

His goal is..if he gets 12 good days...100 marten.

I know he can do it if the weather cooporates and the marten population is still there.

I talked to John at the NC convention this weekend, and he said that Jerry would be miserable if he didn't make that trip out west.

Trapstickman has never trapped Marten but has had a close encounter with a Farten.

Hope it all goes as planned .There is something to say about planning a trapline and having the dedication to seeing it through to a successful finish .

Thats why i encouraged him to go because he was trying to talk himself out of going.

Thats also why i found him that farm job. Its paying for his trip out west amd theyre willing to let him work when he isnt trapping.

I wish I had a market for October marten. Saw one on the porch the other day. I think, I'll wait till November.

He can legally trap marten in early Oct.?
I trapped an area n interior Alaska in 79-80. It was thick with marten. Took me a month to get 100. He can get 100 in 12 days? That is some aw some country!

I found a market for them last season amd he sold 344 all together last season for a 42.00 average.
That was 4 seasons.

While he can trap for martwn beginning oct 1st he doeant. He starts around the 14th.

Tom would catch 100 in 2 weeks.

EJ.. i have seen the martwn hes caught for 17 yrs and i have NEVER put up a blue marten or eben seen a blue marten hes put up and he throwa nothing away.

Hes trapping at 7000 to 10500 ft elevations..starting higher first then working his way down to the lower elvation.

I think hours of daylight plays more of a roll in primeness than temps.

Temperture might make a pelt heavier but it doesnt make it anymore or less prime.imo..and ive seen and put ip fur from all over the country firsthand.

If high temps kept fur from priming then a cold snap would.make fur immediately prime? No. It doeant work that way.

Regardless of temps..furs prime when its prime..same time of year.

Hes actually got an order for 200 marten at 65.00 each from a guy in colorado right now.

The guys not in to.buying crap fur.

He saw jerrys previous marten and contacted him back in june to put in his order.

So jerrys mid october caught marten are just fine.

So he is not "starts trapping saturday" ? BTW all the States and Alberta north of Wyoming open marten after 1 November even at 10,000 feet.

He's only going to Wyoming Oct 1st..so that's all that matters.


And..Yes..He starts trapping on Oct 1..for beaver ,fox, yotes,ect..marten isn't the only thing to trap in Wyoming.

And NO the fox and yotes aren't blue.

They grade semi and heavy. He has never had a section 3 yote or fox from Wyoming unless it was damaged for some reason.

And BTW..The fox and yotes are also spoken for as well, for very very good money ..skinned with the feet on .
