For the guys making your own snares and cable restraints. Do you have anything to hold your cable or do you just leave it lay on your work bench. I’ve thinking of making something to spool my cable on so it’s not just laying on the bench or floor. Just looking for ideas.

Mine is just on the bench, but if I made them in bulk, I’d set up a spool.

I have a rod that my spools of cable spin on so i can just pull cable and cut. Little trick show to keep cable in place after cutting the cable.

Good tip. I bought a couple hound feet of cable and don’t have a spool. Trying to think of something to spool it up on so it’s not laying on the floor or on my bench.

I made a rod to hold 1000' spools, but it really didn't help much. I just lay them on the bench since I moved and took down the rod. It's easily made with a piece of rebar and a couple 2x4's with holes in them mounted to the end of the bench. Add a weak-ish spring on the rod by the spool to keep it from free wheeling.

Wow those are much nicer than me just hammering ferrules shut on my garage floor.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Hmm didnt catch that yhey weren't on spools... That just sucks. You can kind spool it up using zip ties at 6-8 points. You want them loose. Then you can run a rod through the spool . I hate the loose spools because they will bird nest. That's why i find suppliers that uses spools and don't ship loose.

You have to be very careful when re-spooling it or you'll cause it to cast and it'll look like a corkscrew shape, hard to work with for snares but not a big deal on cable stakes or slide cables.

All good ideas guys. I guess next time I will make sure I get cable on a spool so I can make something like that.

Coil it into bucket.
Not as handy as a spool, but you don't have to worry about jacking it up re-spooling it.
If you are careful, it will feed back out pretty decent, and it's movable.

There is no kill like overkill!
That's about a fine spool rack!
