Has anyone had success setting up a feeder to concentrate raccoons to an area for trapping? Seen the video on YouTube called “coon trapping burger king style”. Something I thought about attempting this year since my trapping partner would like to catch 100 coon and I’d like to help accomplish this.

What type of traps are you going to use on the coons?

Get an old tire on the rim. Cut about 4 holes in the sidewall about the size of a pop can top. Fill with corn an then fill up with water. That corn will sour an the coons will eat it up. Put some grape coolaid flavoring in there if you want. Set the trails. Don’t set real close to the tire. Bear might be a problem if you have them

I use this method in addition to trapping the deer feeders. I put them out a week or so before I start a job. Every likely spot gets you one.

Used to do it all the time when I ran hounds. Having buckets scattered along the branches made for areas for starting pups or catching one for a turn out for a pup.

Simple as digging a hole in a bank that'll take a five gallon bucket at a slight slope with the rim low point a few inches above the ground so the coons have easy access. Fill with corn, toss in a packet of grape or strawberry cool aid, top off with water.

Fermented corn isn't as attractive to deer but coons and hogs love it.

Dollar Store dry Dog Food. Close lid tight to waterproof.

WadeRyan has a real nice thread on this very topic in the archives.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Some states, like parts of mine, restrict pre-baiting materials that might attract and concentrate deer. Chronic wasting disease is found here and I get that concentrating deer helps spread it.

Pre-baiting works but we’re not able to use it here.

He cut a deal with Krispy Kreme donuts in Montgomery to pick up all of their stale doughnuts. He would haul a pickup truck load home each weekend.
He had a few dozen open top barrels scattered around the woods to feed the coons. The lids had an eye bolt using circular saw blades as washers. There were three or four two inch holes drilled around the sides on the very bottom for the coons to reach into. He would fill those with doughnuts, lock the lid on with a lock ring then hang them from a limb just high enough that the coons could reach but the ants couldn't. And if the ants discovered the rope a little bit of grease solved that.

It was all fine until he gave me half a hog he fattened on those doughnuts. I've never eaten greasier pork, lol.

I just ask the landowners to tell me which feeders get the most attention and place at least 4 DP’s around them. All the others get two each. The rest go along the creeks.
