In my opinion, Jack wins first place honors for the best career - and lived to tell about it. Plus any career where an airplane is provided is great!

I would rather fly in, out, and around wilderness areas for obvious reasons. Plus it must be safer than flying in controlled airspace with air traffic controllers. They scare me!

20 different airplanes! Amazing!!!

I own a commercial cleaning company and mostly spend my time managing the employee side of it now. Also own 18 rental units and do all of the maintenance and rehabs myself on them. Almost two years ago I started IronTrail Trapline Supply and will do that full time after I sell the other business. Pretty excited to loose the stress of managing a bunch of employees!

Living in a small native village in rural Alaska you have to adapt to whatever work shows up or make your own money any way you can much of it was seasonal.

I have had some interesting jobs, none I really hated. I did most phases of construction, dry wall taper and finisher helped me walk on alot of jobs.

Was a boat captain living on the river all summer buying fish paying cash, spending 30-50 k a day buying salmon.

I also fished Herring in the Bering Sea in an open skiff, then fished salmon, and Lamprey eels here on the Yukon.

Fished Bristol Bay Salmon, also worked on the crab boats contracted to lightering frozen salmon/herring to Japanese tramper ships out in the ocean.

When that shut down I would trap the winters, hunt beaver and muskrats in the spring.

A Bible camp /Gold Mine asked me to tape their drywall once, no pay but I got to fly myself to work and back once a week in a 172 (in the right seat) learned to fly and got to trap on my free time, caught my first wolf there.

I was a wildland firefighter for awhile flying over the Delta buffalo herds in a Huey with the doors open and dropped off on a mountain for a week to fight fire, fought other fires as well flown down to Washington for one 21 day fire, man that was hot.

I also ran the city roads dept and shop mechanic, and maintained their fleet of heavy equipment and buildings, boilers and stuff, did their work orders for gravel pads and laying water sewer infrastructure a bunch of years. Plowed the snow in the village, plowed the airstrip.

I worked as a mechanic and finish dozer operator building a sewer lagoon. It took five years of playing tonka trucks in the mud with D-8s and excavators, loaders and big trucks. That was fun.

Helped a driller drill wells.

Was a fur Buyer ,started up a fur buying company. I flew into Eskimo and Indian villages giving trapping instruction and outfitting them, and then flying back in to buy the fur. Sold tanned fur as well. The company still operates as Alaska larges raw fur buyer.

I am currently buying moose antlers and have a small online business. Retirement coming in a year and a half. I have big plans for that.
