High school was a good time for me, but certainly not the best. All of my life has been good, of course with problems along the way. I pity folks whose life peaked in high school.
In my comments here, I never said I had a lot of free time. However, I managed my time. I allocated specific time for each homework assignment or other project. No languishing with few results. Learn to be self regulating and do the work without wasting time. You have the same amount of time that I had in high school - 24 hours per day.
In high school I was in the honors program where the classes were advanced and a grade of “A” was 5.0 points. I never had a study hall or lunch break because I worked almost full time in the family trucking business. I did maintenance and other hard work.
I got up at 4:00 to study. Walked or rode bicycle to school which began at 7:45. Classes until 1:00 when I would leave to go to work. I worked until 7:00 or 8:00 when I would then study and then do some interesting project. During hunting and trapping season I cut back on work a little. Checked traps by walking in the morning and skinned in the evening. Not a huge trapline. As a junior, parents let me use a car to run a large driving trapline. The car had to be clean every day and no odors. Always kept up with school work.
I planned responsibilities, projects, and activities on paper for weekends and school vacations. All of my life I have had a to do list and other lists of priorities to keep me focused and productive. During school summer vacation I worked at least 40 hour weeks.
At age 15 I started an oil recycling business. I rode my bicycle to factories to negotiate deals for used hydraulic oil which I would have hauled away and recycled.
So, how good of a life do you want? What are you going to do to be successful, fulfilled, satisfied, and happy with your life?

Sounds like whining to me. You don’t have it any worse than anyone else on here, except we just did the work. A lot of my homework was done in study hall or on the bus ride home. The way the bus route was I could get dropped off at the beginning of my road and run home and be finishing homework before the bus even came by. Not to even mention chores that needed done after homework. Then ball practice after that. Apparently you need to do some research on time management. If the desire is there, you’ll find the time to get homework and whatever else needs done in order to have fun afterwards. When we trapped, we’d run the line before school and skin at night. Even now as a adult I run mornings before work and reset after work. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Hey man, I put it at the start that there was going to be a rant, don't come in here and complain that it's whining when you had the option to read the thread or not. I do as much homework as possible in a 40-minute study hall, I don't ride the bus home and never have as I live in town very near to the school. I don't do sports and very rarely do extracurricular activities but maybe signing up for FFA but that's a whole different conversation. I don't have the time in the morning to run my line, especially a water line before school since I get up at 6:30 to get ready for school and am out the door by 7:40. I have no option except to run it after school and skin whenever I have time. Thanks for the reply but don't start off with "Sounds like whining to me" when you had the option to write in the thread or not, especially when I gave a warning. I respect you and everyone on this forum but if you have the option to be positive, then be positive. Sleeping to 6:30 may be a big part of the problem. During trapping season I got up at 4am every morning to run traps and be home by 6:30 to get ready for school. And here I am now, still getting up at 4 am, lol.
Proudly banned from the NTA.
Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

Why stop the learning and understanding all during your life? Ya realize, it's those who don't to want to understand that toss the mud at those who continue to want to understand.
So be a learner and use what God gave you all your life. A body, a mind, and a soul.
Who ever sold us - to stop learning - anyway? Buncha hooey.
Blessings, Mark

Boco, I wish it was that easy, if it was I would be working on learning a trade. I have gotten myself so obsessed with A's and high grades that I can't do anything below it now. Thanks for giving me advice. I respect you very much for that even if my respect doesn't mean much.
Why the obsession with A’s? My grades were C+ -B throughout school. My graduating class was given the “test to graduate” pre mandatory to graduate. 13 of us out of 80 passed it. lol There were several straight A students that didn’t pass. You seem wound a bit tight. Let yourself “just be” a little.

I respect you and everyone on this forum but if you have the option to be positive, then be positive. As yotetrapper said, this is your problem. I was in the same situation as you in high school. I woke up at 3:30AM to run my line and was always at school at 7 oclock on time. Heck, I even skinned my catch one day for our biology class. This was not a hundred years ago, this was 2016. After school I worked at a cabinet shop part time from 2:30 to 6:30 Mon-Fri. I would get home around 7 and then I would do my homework and eat dinner. 9 pm I was in the fur shed putting up fur. For awhile I put up coons for a local furbuyer in addition to my daily catch. I was only running a couple dozen traps here, don't think you are going to be longlining while doing something else full time. Usually I was in the bed about midnight and back up at 3 to do it all again. You are young and you can do it if you have the work ethic. Millionaires didn't make their millions sleeping 8 hours every night. This goes back to my comment about working harder than those around you. If you are sleeping until 6:30 and complaining about not enough time in the day then there lies your problem. Good luck to you this season, I hope it works out for you
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Absolutely hated every day! Quit to go to work and get married. Been working since 1959 to this day and I don’t regret one day of it!
Like the song goes” I did it my way”
When my sophomore English teacher scored homework with blue bird stickers did it for me, California school system!

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

School interfered with too much with more important stuff. They weren't teaching me what I was wanting to learn. Artsy fartsy stuff, literature, just a bunch of hogwash and daydreams written up by a bunch of loons and drug addicts. I had a life to go after. Good riddance ! O-Snap, I'm with ya ! Like the other song: SCHOOLS OUT ... FOR-EVER ! (A. Cooper)

If one has trouble being able to find ways to get involved in multiple activities in the prime of one's life I doubt that it will get much easier as one ages and takes more forks in the road.
Bryce Well said.Young folks need to put them electronical gadgets away and get outdoors.Got my boys hunting, trapping and fishing at a young age.If they weren't playing Hockey or Football,,they were in the woods. They have my Grandkids doing the same.

Aren’t you the same 14yr old kid that has more traps than he can set? And blew up his truck motor and got a newer Z71? Sounds like you don’t need school and just continue your day job and trap. Seems you have it all figured out. And yeah, a rant is whining, which is quite typical of kids today. 15yr old but yes. Also, it isn't quite a Z71 but yes also. I can't just quit school so I'm in it for the long run. You call it what you want and I'll call it what I want and we'll leave it at that.
