I agree with everyone who says the Marlin 39a is a better rifle but here a really rough 39a will set you back 800 or better now and nice ones are bringing over 1000 dollars so two very different price points.

Bought the H001 youth model for trapping I liked it so much I keep it in the gun cabinet its so nice. I replaced the plastic front sight with a metal one I found on the web, I also added a skinner peep sight. The gun is flawless never a problem with it shoots like a dream.

My boy has a .22 mag golden boy that he got from his grandpa. We'd like to put a scope on it but it's old enough that it's not drilled and tapped for one. Anyone know of a way to mount it without having it tapped?

won't let you put anything huge on it but a little red dot

Thank you. Kinda like to use a 2-7x32 on it. But that's better than nothing. Never have use a red dot, is there a decent one that you can shoot 35-40 yards for coon calling?

I have one in the 22 Mag. It shoots very well. Decent, not great trigger. Sights are easy to use. If I miss with it, it’s on me.

I have one in .22 LR and ran it on the trapline for a couple of years, ran around in the sled during winter. Kept it in the truck during spring and fall trapping. Always was accurate and the only issue was it rusted but some gunsmith's wipes cleaned it up quickly. I was running it up until this year when I "inherited" a Rossi pump action from the 70s from an uncle and that's my favorite gun.

The Golden Boy models look like they would be hard to keep clean and would scratch easily. You Golden Boy owners, is it tough to keep it clean of finger prints? Does the hood finish scratch easily?

most any are good for 35-40 yards I have a sig romeo 5 the wife got me for christmas it offers a low mount option

you will probably need to take the mount and gun to a store and see what works

big enough window , small enough mount

the open type like the Vortex venom are smaller , lighter and easier to see through but also can be an issue with rain getting in the emitter

most offer a 2moa dot option the dot would be 2 inches at 100 yards so if you have a target that is small you end up covering it with the dot but at 25 it would appear a half inch and at 50 yards 1 inch

Interesting opinions. Used a Marlin thurty-thurty that would jam if you looked at it funny. Son has a Henry and never had any issues with it.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
