Got some traps, conibear 110 type, stamped Big Bear on the latch.
Look to be more cheaply made than others, but are quite strong.
Bright (galvanized ?) chain and stamped/formed sheet metal trigger.
Who made these and where did they come from ? (guessing china)
Thanks.

Don't remember the manufacturer but the guy was from NJ and handing them out at the Clearfield PA trappers convention around 1980ish.

Are they square jaw or 6 sided? The early models were 6 sided. They also made a 220 size trap.

Thanks folks, here are some pics.
I think these springs are actually stronger than many, if not all of the other brands I have. [Linked Image]

At one point I had about 12 dozen of them in 110 and 160 size and all mine worked as good as Victors.

Made by big bear trap company in the early/mid 70s to maybe around 1980 - 82ish. I think the company was from New Jersey . I don't think the traps were made in china - the steel was pretty decent in the square frame ones. The early version that had an odd 6 sided shape didn't seem as quality as the later square frame ones. If they were imported I would say they came from Taiwan.

These are square.
The only ref I can find is an old pic from ebay with the ad title (pasted in the pic)
Wilderness Corp. Ring a bell ?
Looks like the hexagon you mentioned ?
I can't find any related info anywhere.
Thanks

These look like good traps, other than the tin triggers.
Got a little over 2 doz, like new, film of rust, probably never set.
Thanks folks,
smile

They were made in Cooperstown NY, made coilspring also, guys name was Ted Hargrove, I bought some and regret using them. Coyotes would eat the coilsprings, the concept was good exceution not so much!

the body grip traps were made in Newark N.J but forget the name of the company that actually made them, there were about 50 dozen of them found a year or 2 ago on facebook marketplace, I was to late when I aquired about them and they went to a scrap yard, called the scrap yard but was to late, already destroyed

We sold a half dozen of the 1 1/2 Baby Bear traps at auction at or convention last weekend. I do not recall what they sold for.

I had some of the 1 1/2s back 80/81 got them from Ludy Sheda cheap, only a doz and think I paid around 12/15 maybe, they were poorly made with jaws that didn’t line up evenly, IE gaps and uneven jaw face and when I pulled them out of the box three actually separated at the swivel the rivets just popped out and a couple more came out when I gave them a tug

Never did set them and think I still have them in a box somewhere

The later ones I seen looked ok but after what i got. Never trusted them
