I was on a trip out west and stopped at a Gun dealer just to look. But i walked out with a Glock G 20 Gen 4 10 MM pistol. Any Comments on a 10MM or Glock brand? This is the first Glock I own, kinda wanted a 10 MM as I am planning on a bear hunt in a year or two, Lord willing. Thanks

A buddy of mine has one and shot a deer with it. He was in a tree stand and the deer was like 3 yards from his ladder stand. Perfect behind the shoulder shot and he watched the deer drop. Only thing he doesn’t like is it’s LOUD, lol!

I've got a Glock 10MM, Model 20C, has the compensated slide/barrel. Typical glock, massive grip, need hands like hams to shoot it accurately. I have 2 other 10MM, which are Kimber's on the 1911 frame. The Kimber is WAY more accurate than the Glock.

I have a Glock 20. Never taken a shot at a deer with it yet but I would if the correct opportunity presents itself. It is the only Glock I own and I like the form and function.

My brother makes his living working in the Montana wilderness over the past twenty years, it is his daily companion while working and playing. He swears by the Buffalo Bore ammunition. Has gotten him out of a couple jams throughout the years, as he would say.

Glocks are extremely reliable handguns, the big thing to know about them is you can't run really hot loads in them due to the design of the chamber. Also get a good quality very stiff holster for them as there have been instances where a lesser quality holster collapsed during reholstering and pressed the trigger. Glocks are not known for their stellar accuracy, don't get me wrong they are more than accurate enough for what they are designed to do and I will gladly trade serviceable accuracy for 100 percent reliability because for what I use Glocks for the difference between a 2 inch and a 3 inch 5 shot group at 25 yards is irrelevant. If I want to shoot little bitty groups, I have handguns that will do that but they may not be 100 percent reliable which is a problem in a field gun. If you miss a bear at any reasonable shooting distance it's you not the handgun.

I have learned though since putting a red dot on one that the accuracy may be a sight limitation rather than a gun limitation as the sights are course combat sights designed to be quickly acquired and fast to get on target as a result as you move farther back they cover a lot of the target.

Also, if you plan on shooting the "bear loads" through your Glock you will want to look at replacing the recoil spring with a heavier one to reduce battering on the gun and improve control, there are numerous articles out there about this. Apparently, they have a lighter recoil spring from the factory to enhance function with most of the defensive 10 mm loads out there which are actually pretty close to 40 S&W loads than true 10 mm loads.

I've got a Glock 40MOS 10mm. I have killed some deer with it out to 45 yards. I Like it. Mine shoots 3" groups at 50 yards off sandbags with a red dot, it might do better but I can't. 200 gr bullets do fine 220's don't stabilize. I use 180 JHP. Would probably use 200's if going after bear. I've never had a failure to feed with any ammo. But probably only shot 300-400 rounds. Recoil and noise is enough to make other pistol I own more enjoyable for the Sunday Shoot a Round .

I have a few glocks in the house we have them ranging from nearly box stock to tricked out race gun
the thing most people want to change that you probably just want to train is the trigger
in the factory configuration the gun is stupid reliable when fed any sort of decent ammo

the Glock calls it safe action in reality it is a partially cocked striker that is also blocked by a plunger

when you are pulling the trigger you are actually pulling the striker back to it's full rearward position and just before the sear disconects and lets the triker run forward under spring pressure the trigger bar pushes the firing pin block plunger out of the way so that the firing pin can get to the primer on the round.

glocks need very little oil you will see the 6 points to oil your glock in the manual I like hornady one shot cleaner and dry lube to hose the carbon out of the lower it lubes your trigger connector and disconnecter no need to do any thing else in the lower but hose the carbon out of it and make sure no debris is in it

you can dry fire glocks as much as you like get where you can break that trigger and keep your sights on target then go shooting

find yourself a good holster that covers the trigger guard , covering the trigger is the safety , she is ready to go coming out of the holster when you pull the trigger
slow back into the holster with the muzzle not pointing at you
when cops shoot themselves it is typically fast to holster with some clothing or something like their finger in the way

when I carry appendix I don't put on the holster then the gun, I pull the holster and gun together the gun stays in the holster and goes in my cabinet and when I put it on it goes in my pants with the holster then attaches to my belt.

if you carry in chest bag , there is a kydex trigger shield that pops on the trigger guard you want to order and clips inside the chest bag with a short peice of paracord so when you pull the gun the trigger gets exposed

accuracy is largely sights and human ability to pull the trigger strait without moving the sights

I shoot irons my son had his slide cut for a red dot and runs that and sometimes irons

the red dots are a good tool for allowing better aim at distance with a pistol you want to buy a good one that stays on all the time and you just change the battery once a year . if you plan to carry it for personal protection.

200 grain hardcast, either in Double Tap or Underwood, unless you roll your own. You may need a 22 lb spring and look at these,,,, https://store22476567.ecwid.com/Chest-Holster-p167101242

Been toting a G29 as my EDC gun for 20 years or so.

It's more accurate than I am. It's compact enough to conceal easily. And if 10+1 rounds of 10mm (or PLUS the extra mag in my back left jean pocket) won't cure what ails ya............ Brother............you got PROBLEMS !!!!

The Glocks just go "BANG". They are a fail-proof, point-and-click interface. My G29 goes everywhere with me and it is generally always filthy inside and out. Had an official Glock armorer (who had been in the military, servicing Glocks in the sandbox) tell me he'd never seen one as crudded up inside as mine. He couldn't believe it still ran. To date............it's never hiccupped. Runs like a Swiss.........or Austrian........watch.

I have the Glock 40 MOS in 10mm and really like it. The trigger has gotten better with round count. I like the longer barrel of the G40 vs the 20 but that is just me. I carry it on my yearly Alaska fishing trips with Underwood ammo. It has taken a few swims with me on these trips and still functions flawless. I picked up a Kimber Rapide Scorpious in 10mm a couple months ago. I like everything about it as well, but will only get confidence with round count for reliability vs the Glock.

I have shot a deer and a game preserve ram with the G40 and it performed well with the Sig V-crown ammo.

Picked up a sig 10 mm in 320 model yesterday. Been looking for over a year. Hoping it's as good as my sig 40. Can't stand the narrow grip of a single stack pistol; hurts my hands to shoot.

I have a 24 lbs recoil spring in mine and have put many warm rounds through it. Loading Hornady XTP in 180 or 200 grain with long shot powder. Lone wolf barrel and orange county trigger group and a fully adjustable rear sight. Its more accurate than I am for sure. But I manage to hit paper plates out to 100 yards. Good enough for me

I’ve had my gen 3 Glock 20 for two years now. Carry it appendix on occasion and have a Tucker gun leather chest holster for it. I like the rig alot. Oz for Oz I think it’s hard to beat. I don’t believe the hype that it’s a super canon but I do rank in there with a heavy 357 load. Which is pretty potent, especially with 15 rounds of it! I like to hike with a TLR-1 light on it. With a tungsten rod in there and the light on it, a guy can rip shots off pretty quickly and accurately. I put a KKM barrel in it for the added chamber support. Some guys don’t believe it but I think it’s cheap insurance.

You must have missed and it died from a heart attack. .If a 9mm blows the lungs out that 10mm should empty the entire chest cavity. Yet I don't even see an entrance or exit hole. It is so confusing.
