Hi folks! Is a deer trail a good place to set up for coon?

They wil use the same trails. You need to protect your sets from the deer though as they will set them off constantly if you don't

Thank you. I will be using mostly CRs so I am sure I can come up with some kind of set along the trail so the deer 🦌 don't get into it.

DPs along deer trails will stop the need to remake sets.

Just keep in mind a coon can travel on a deer trail, but a deer physically can’t navigate some stretches of a good coon trail. Find those tight little spots on coon trails and have fun collecting coon only with CRs.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I have always found that "deer" or what I call "game" trails have a lot of species traeveling them and the incidental catches really are high, so even if coon travel them the catch rates are not the best for me.

I watch for and have learned how to identify what I call coon trails and my coon catches are high. I know I miss some but I typically move those sets in 3-4 checks and that helps minimize the incidentals that are using those trails as well. Hot coon trails for me are very high percentage coon catches.
