From Army W.TF.
October 3rd is the anniversary of 2 of the most well-known actions in US Army history that resulted in 4 Medals of Honor. There are entire books written about these events; we just wanted to write a short post to honor the memory of those who died in service of our country.

In 1993, Somali militia fighters shot down 2 Black Hawk helicopters during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. Delta Operators MSG Gary Gordon and SFC Randall Shughart gave their lives defending the crew of the 2nd Blackhawk against overwhelming enemy fire. For this heroic action, both of them received the Medal of Honor. In total, 18 Soldiers were killed in action during the battle and another 73 were wounded in action.

In 2009, Black Knight Troop, 3-61 Cav, 4th BCT, 4ID were attacked at COP Keating in Nuristan, Afghanistan by more than 300 well-armed Taliban soldiers. SSG Clinton Romesha and SPC Ty Carter received the Medal of Honor for their heroic actions defending their fellow Soldiers. The deadly attack led to the deaths of 8 Soldiers and wounded another 22.
