Amazing gal. You post lead me to her biography. I had known her as only as the Annie Oakley of shooting fame, previously.

If she's wondering if that dress makes her butt look big, the answer is yes.

trick shooters eyes see something the rest of us dont. A local older gentleman by the name of Gibby Lashua put on an exhibition some years ago & i was able to witness. he could shoot a quarter size plug out of the air with a .22 rifle, no scope, & ask if members of the audience if they wanted a center hit or edge hit, if it was hit in the center it was not recoverable but an edge strike would make it buzz and not go far. i tried to watch him as he shot & it appeared he would nearly loose his balance after the shot, so focused on the target. he performed other trick shots as well and is an amazing marksman! anyone else ever seen or heard of him?

that was the purpose of that dress

probably had petty coats on under it to fluff like that , it was a style

a time when people had little extra on their bones and it was desired to not look too thin

now in a age of excess well , times changed

There is a book about Ed McGivern, Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting. In it is a photo where he was shooting dime sized lead disks with his revolver. The photo is a series of disks starting just clipping the edge, and after about 30 or so disks ends with a hole through the center of the disk. The amazing thing to me is that twice during the string he adjusted the sights on his revolver leading to increasingly centered hits. That a sight change could make a difference shooting a revolver at a tiny flying disk is remarkable.

Not to mention corsets to make their waists smaller
