they say the more black they are the worst the winter is going to be , seen a lot lately all are almost solid black

I've heard that my whole.life but i saw 4 yesterday. 2 were solid black..one had a brown head black middle and a brown butt and one had a brown head and the rest was black.

I figured they're just like weatherman..confused and often wrong.lol

Have always seen a big difference in wooly bear colors in the same year, Anyone who claims they know what winter is going to be like by wooly bears must be reading the Farmers Almanac, they're usually wrong too...

Collect a few hundred Wolly Bears and take an average and you might hit what you want. Farmers Almanac is like the lottery, pick your number stay on it and someday you might win

I call the dark ones wooly bullies and the light ones fuzzy wuzzies.

I think the wider the black stripe the older the caterpillar- so if they're older they must have better meteorological skills... going to be a bad winter
