I have 5 buried here on the homestead but still want another most days.

rob, that was one smart dog. he knew who loved him for sure. jakes first night with us, i made him a bed on the floor, on my side of the bed, and when hed awake and cry, id reach down and give him a pat on the head, hed sniff my hand and go back to sleep. at some point during the night, i didnt hear him cry, so my wife got up, walked around the bed, picked him up, and laid him on the bed between us. i woke the next morning thinking whats that smell? jake had crapped all over the bed, walked through it, and did an amazing job of smearing it all over everything, including himself. funny thing is, after that night, he never again peed or crapped in the house, shop, or fur shed. that memory is 14 years old, and still like it just happened yesterday. labs touch our hearts in special ways.

We still have our yellow lab Hunny we got from Rally and her son Fudge. She has a few lipomas now. We had the first three removed but others soon return. They don't seem to effect her other than a lumpy appearance. She still acts like a pup most of the time. Fudge is a good looking dog though and very kind. I'm sure it'll be quite a few years before we run out of pets, maybe by then we'll be ready for a pup. I'm going with black next time though, if there is a next time, yellow and chocolates shed tooo much! lol

How old was Jack when he passed? The last two dogs I laid to rest where Chocolate Labs. Miss both of them dearly.

Hunny's sister Bella was taken by ticks while she was still a pup. I am thinking she was only a couple years old and was so crippled up she couldn't even walk. That is the second dog I lost to a tick disease.

I am on our last dog as we speak. She is near the end of the road and I am too old for another dog. It would most likely out live me. I will miss having a dog around but they sure are a big part of our lives.
