So GF's family wants to give one of their fathers firearms to an uncle. They would like to have some kinda paperwork that basically says they are giving them this firearm. Told em they don't really have to do all that but it's something they really want. So anyone happen to have a basic form or something like this they could link to ?
Thanks

I have nothing clever to put here.

seems odd to gift a firearm to someone you dont trust to have it

a bill of sale is all that is needed in any free state as MS is , 2 copies they both sign them then they have a record

some people like to think the GOV should be involved and if they want that they need to go to a dealer and the dealer does a transfer with 4473 and background check and charges them something to do i probably not less than 25-30 dollars

or they could write a letter for him that states this is the will of the father that he have said firearm and thus identify it by make model and SN# the executor of the will then would sign it.

Then CYA. Transfer it through a licensed FFL Dealer and make the receiver pay the cost.

TV and movies have a lot of people convinced there is tracking on guns and there isn't nor should there be.

if he is in another state you may need to do a transfer but that isn't the norm when it is a gift to family unless it needs to be shipped.

If it’s a pistol going to another state it should have the yellow form done in the state that it’s going to but nobody ever does that. That’s what the ATF guy told me when I got a couple handguns from a buddy from out of state.

I would hate to guess how many million firearm transfers have been done with no paperwork .

I'm a FFL. Just do a bill of sale as long it's legal in your state. For states that don't require anything for private transfers, it's commonplace to just do a bill of sale. In the past, some people would say take that to a FFL, but I have to recommend against that practice now. A bill of sale with the date and to who, filed away in your important documents is good in case that gun is ever used in a crime or stolen, or whatever.

A bill of sale signed and dated. Most people sell to strangers with this or less, should suffice for family laugh

Have it notarized if they feel the bill of sale is not enough.

Either way, each side keeps a copy

Federal law does not require any paperwork for private transfers between residents of the same state. Don't do anything more than is required by state law other than the Bill of Sale for your own records.

if you ask a criminal defense attorney they will tell you to NEVER talk to L.E and answer questions. So if they show up asking about a firearm the last thing you want to do is answer questions and wave a piece of paper at them. Just say I choose to remain silent then do it.

There is no gun registry short of NFA, so in reality, the only way anyone would know you had the gun in the first place is if you admit to it, By signing either side of a bill of sale.

In order to have a registry you would need to log every sale, the only sale logged is when you purchase new, and that is a temporary log. from that moment forward, you could or said you did sell , lose, giveaway, hide , stash, donate and no one could prove otherwise, in other words , no registry.

They can go to the store and get the form once they have model caliber and serial number. That only tells them who the original purchaser was. Its no crime to sell or trade guns. Remember, I choose to remain silent, then do it. Any time a gun store closes they go get all the forms and keep them. (ATF)

Remember a few years back when there was an illegal release of classified documents? including the information that NSA records ALL electronic comminication from phones to computers. Well, you think ATF doesnt have access to all those online files?

Cooperating with L.E. does NOT benefit you. They are legally allowed to lie to you however if you lie to them its obstruction.

I choose to remain silent
