Question for you guys in Maine- is the first week of November too late for woodcock in the western side of the NMW? Or is there another area of the state that may be better that week of the season for grouse and woodcock hunting? I know the grouse will be around but curious on if the woodcock flights have mostly gone through by then?

You might find some stragglers but they're usually gone by then. It has been a very mild fall and the ground hasn't begun to freeze. You might get lucky.

I was in New Hampshire this past weekend and the Woodcock were in heavy along the river bottom next to my camp mid state. My son and his friend had a field day shooting without the use of any dogs.
