I set bunch of traps on a farm yesterday like I posted yesterday.
Hoping for racoons because there's sign of it everywhere.

Whatever it was bent the door outta shape and opened up the bottom and dug a hole out. I had cinder blocks on the trap too prevent it from getting tipped over.

Never happened too me before.

Got any solutions?

Most likely coon. Stale the traps down or get higher quality cages.

Thats the result of buying cheap coon cages! There is no substitute for quality, good luck getting that one again.

Use T-Stakes next time straight down through the top to anchor. If you only put block on top and didn't shore up the sides it was too top heavy and easy for it to tip over.

Coon

Stronger traps, staked down and toss in a short piece of broom stick or golf ball to give them something to take their frustration out on.

Never had a cage trap tip over.
Never used a T- stake or a weight on top of a cage trap.
It looks like a cheap hav-a-hart junk trap.
Fixed many of them for people I trapped for.
You can only fix them so many times.

Get some good traps , personally I never liked the slant solid tin doors on traps.

Solid doors are never a good idea for coons, the bars are way better, they concentrate on them and don't tear at the wire. Duke HD are the best you can get for the money IMO. You can also spend 3 times as much for other brands that are great traps.

A coon can give a well-built trap a good beat-down.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Quality cages Needed is True
However never using a stake & never having a coon tip one over. Well Wisconsin coon "can" be Much larger than Ohio coon.

Those light cages won’t hold all coon for sure. Here is one we had chew a hole in back and escaped. Bent the door and pan so badly couldn’t save the trap. Light cheap traps won’t hold some coon.
Get heavier cages to hold those Tasmanian devil coon.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Raccoons dont have nothing on a ground hog when it comes to destroying cage traps.

I've caught a lot of BIG raccoons in those. Very well built.

You can see where the boar coons tore up the bark on that tree trying to get at that sow in breeding season. You know the cage is tough....

Don't patch it up. Turn it into colony trap. Muskrat.

ADC has a video of some traps he makes.

I have that Duke trap, caught a lot of coon and possums at the house with it, never been tipped over, and the wire is still like new ,it's tough enough for here.

Koonce is on the more affordable scale for nuisance trapping cages. To set the trap, all you do is raise the door. Rear bait/release door. Cant remember the name but there was a guy selling a similar style trap at the NTA this year, only difference I remember was how the rear door operated.
