Thought I'd share a different trapping technique.

Good old drift fencing. It can be very effective if done well. Not a fast set up but it can pay dividends.

I must've done well as I set it up yesterday and had two today.

Cool. What I’ve noticed is when you catch an armadillo in a certain cage trap, then whatever scent they leave seems to attract others in that same trap.

Yup, I'll snatch one out and move them cage to cage to get them all funked up.

What type of staking system are you using to hold your fencing in place? I generally use a series of grade stakes.

I've noticed that vultures won't even eat a roadkilled armadillo.

Is the color of the drift fence, orange vs black important?

Grade stakes woven through the mesh.

I haven't noticed a difference. I prefer green as it isn't as gaudy as orange in a clients yard.

Makes sense up until 1980 It was all small farms here with small fields cordoned off by rail or woven wire fence usually supplemented by tall grass and shrubs and they all had gates and a lane

Yep, that spread is based on reading the lay of the land. Armadillos often follow terrain path of least resistance. To the left is the house and driveway with a fully fenced backyard. The draw ahead goes down to the subdivision lake. The are coming from the draw. Show up early and read the trails in the dew. So they are shooting the gap dead ahead in the planting border or coming out to the right and coming up.
