I am in the notion to try a new deer scent and wondered what everyone has had success with? For several years I used James Valley Scent. I had good success but after the owner died my success went down fast. For the last few years I have used Deer Sense smoking scents. After reading in Fur Fish Game about Judd Cooney using them with success I bought some. Have had a few instance where a buck came straight in from 150+ yards to them. Does at times get spooky and don't like them if close (under 20 yards). Does also tend to get spooky if the smoke is visible and curling around in light wind. They are a scented fireworks punk. Currently I may try Smokeys Deer Lure unless someone here has a better recommendation.

I've used Bob Jamesons with success and would like to try some of Ron Jones " Rednecks Pride calls and lures" some day.

Find some Bowhunters Fatal Obsession. Haven’t had a deer smell me yet this year. Just don’t use it on your boots or clothing. If you do, deer will literally follow your trail straight to your stand. Keep the does around and the bucks will be there as well. Already got bucks following does at a distance.

I've heard great things about Smokey's deer lures.

is Smokey's urine-based? I'm in a CWD area, so no urine-based scents.

Tincture you some buck tarsal gland and add some tonquin to it. Few drops in a scrape, yours or theirs, and see what happens. They will also check out striaght tonquin.
