Be prepared for coons jumping up and swinging. I put up 4 early summer to get the smell off of them. Used Smokey but they just smell it. Didn't start using the scrape till I put red oak branches and put Smokey preorbital on the branch. The rope they stretch way out and just smell. I should say 2 are on posts and 2 are in trees. One in a tree that was a scrap last year they totally abandoned.

Last season was the first time my buddy and myself started hanging vines we simply cut from the woods and hung from trees on deer trails, the results were crazy. The vines were placed earlier in the summer and no scent was used whatsoever, the deer did it all, does and bucks. Every place there was a vine hung, a scrape followed. The vines were placed in three different geographical locations, one at my place, one at his which is a hour from my house. And he even placed some where he hunts in South Dakota on artificial trees he constructed from telephone poles. Check out the videos below, there are only a sample of the countless vids from last year. They are simple magic. I put them out last year in front of all my stands. They look silly. I just hung 1 inch x 2 foot grape vines about chest high in an opening in the deer trail. No lure at all. Most deer, does and bucks, check that vine out when they walk through. Tonight I sat in a stand overlooking one of those vines from last year, A doe ran by followed by 3 yearling bucks. All 3 bucks played with that vine, You learn a lot about scrapes. It's more the licking branch then the scraped ground underneath. Most deer just come up and sniff it without doing anything to the ground below,

If I can make it myself, I will!

Grab now, grade later.

I tried one this year for the first time ever. This has been my experience too, so far. I call them licking sticks instead of mock scrapes. I don't put very many out though because I want to be able to really lure in the deer to a couple key locations. I found the vine and then used Jeff Sturgis's online advice. I put one five yards from my new h20 hole. I'm still trying to figure out what the biggest attraction is but I had an eight-pointer show up on camera 5 days in a row.
