Jkeith- You are correct, this started way before 2022. I don't know where the people in this music video fall in Boco's black-and-white view of what has happened in the Donbas, especially before Feb 24, 2022. I guess they are civil war traitors in Boco's view. The really sad thing is that at the time in mid-2014, after the "color revolution", the "separatists" in the Donbas didn't actually want to leave the country of Ukraine, they wanted some sort of "autonomy" to teach their kids in a language that almost everyone in Ukraine knows how to speak and was the native tongue for many in those eastern provinces. Leave their kids education alone and let them do official business in Russian as well. But the Kiev nationalists sent in the Ukie army and well, things turned another direction.

Most Americans and Canadians will think that the images seen in this video came from this past late winter, but they didn't. They came from the winter of 2014-15 and the song came in in either 2015 or 2016. I wonder how many of he young people in this video are still alive today...

Putin and his speechwriters did a great job taking legitimate criticisms of the west and using it justify his own authoritarian goals.

It's interesting to see how the narrative has shifted from the start of the war- at first it was a "denazification" of Ukraine through a "special military action." Now it appears the tone has changed and it's an all-out war for the survival of Russian civilization. That's not the tonal shift I would expect from folks who are supposedly winning the war...

kbuck- I don't have a lot of time this evening to say how things evolve over time with war-- the "civilizational" thing was always there but perhaps not at the forefront at the time during the late winter-- but the fact the "40 mile" Russian convoy did not unleash any of their self-propelled guns on downtown Kiev when they reached the suburbs (remember "Bucha", its a Kiev suburb within firing distance of a 152 mm cannon) or any Islanker mobile missiles anytime during the time from the border down to outer Kiev shows that the Russians weren't in an all out war thinking aspect when it came to this action. I still think there was an idea that the brother Slavs could work things out without NATO and the West being all over them. I'm sure most here will just say that's crap but then explain to me why the Rus didn't use their longer range weapons that they had in that "40 mile convoy" to pound any and all important government buildings in downtown Kiev in early March. I'd love to hear a serious answer.

Anyway, things seem to building up to "something big" in the conflict before November 8. Not just this essay from an Indian guy observing all of this geopolitical stuff, but lots of other data points. The worse thing would be a nuclear detonation either in Ukraine or somewhere else. We are living in VERY DANGEROUS times. The dragons don't want to lose...

I'm still looking for Western weapons in the videos from this Ukie channel. I went back and re-watched the first video I had seen from this channel, it was after the AFU did their offensive in eastern Kharkov province in mid- September and retook the small city of Izium. These guys actually look like an army, with tanks, apcs, and military trucks. Too bad their offensive petered out east of Izium and never really made it into Lugansk (LPR) province, although the Ujkies have shelled around the Russian city of Belograd in recent time.

These guys were down around Kherson in the south and look more like militia than regulars. I guess the "ultras" are sort of Ukie soccer fans turned nationalist militia. Almost no weapons seen except a 60mm mortar towards the beginning and the machine-gun in the title photo (that might be of Western make). The bearded guy driving the 4-door pickup in the end, part Black Sea Greek heritage, ended up being killed before the video was posted. The AFU has tried a number of mini offensives towards Kherson since late August without much success, they have picked up some ground but have taken a lot of casualties. Perhaps that's why there hasn't been a solider video from the southern front since this one was released.

The Russians have evacuated many civilians out of Kherson city this past week, the Ukies have evacuated civilians out of Mykolaiv (a city about 50 road miles to the northwest of Kherson). Both sides are talking about some sort of mass-casualty event happening soon. Team Sniffy needs a Ukie "victory' before November 8 to show that their "war to the last Ukrainian" is worth the blood and treasure being drained into this sucking black hole. Too bad the autumn rains have come , as they usually do, and made armor advances across the muddy fields laborious at best. All the hard top roads around Kherson are dialed in by the Russian arty. The Ukies will pay in blood most of the way to the city if they make it that far. I'm sure that the vampire Jake S. is getting his thrill from watching the carnage virtually and Auntie Lindsey is losing lots of young Ukie hard bodies...
