I read all the time about never freezing fur that is wet? Why is this? Does it damage the fur or the leather? Is there a difference between damp and soaking wet fur as far as freezing? Or is just a matter of you would have a mess when you want to put it up because its thawing?

Takes longer to thaw out, then you still have to dry the fur before boarding.
The proper way for quality product is to dry all fur before skinning.
I would not see a problem with freezing a wet animal whole, since the fur will dry while it is thawing out.The only thing-bag it in plastic or the wet fur will freeze to stuff and get pulled out.
I would not freeze a soaking wet skin removed from the animal-more problems with that.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Thanks Boco, I appreciate your response. I have never done it but always read not to do it. Thanks for clarifying why it's better to have it dried.
