This isn't post isn't meant to talk bad about a Company or Vendor, neither is it a complaint specifically.

I'm not sure if it is allowed to post about specific vendors so I'll omit names for now. If a mod chimes in and says its okay I will post the Name.

There is a specific trapping outfit I have dealt with three times over the last 2 years, every time I received my order it is always short.
The first time I ordered from them the order was short a bag of crunch proofs.
The second order they were short two traps
this third and final order was for 10lbs of wax and was one bar short.

The first two times I contacted them and I felt like It was almost an inconvenience for them to fix the orders, but they did.

This time, I have not even received a response and its been three days.

I've had really good experiences with the sponsor of this page, and will most likely stick to doing business with them from this point forward.

Has anyone else here had the same experience with a vendor?

It almost feels like they are intentionally shorting orders.

Not really. But i avoid ordering supplies this tinr of year because the odds of this happening goes yp dramatically because everybody is ordering right now and many supply stores are one msn shows, maybe a spouse and occasionally a part time employee.

I know that frustration, having been there myself.

This is most like a family or very small outfit, and most likely their only source of income. That's why I don't think throwing names around was a good idea. I would hate to see someone suffer because I had a handful of bad experiences.
I doubt they are intentionally shorting orders, those words were out of frustration.

I just go to my local trapping supply in Elkton,VA and it's usually a blast no matter what time of year. Sorry about the bad experiences. Yes, I have had rough experiences with people in other lines of work but it usually works out in the end. One of the better times to order supplies is @ trapping conventions where you can see what you are getting.

Man, that sucks. It also seems unusual, as vendors in the trapping supply business usually go above and beyond for their customers.

Several years ago I had one trapping supply vendor charge my credit card and never sent whatI ordered. All attempts to contact them were ignored. I had ordered from them before with one mix up on an order. Their website was absent on the net shortly thereafter.

If I ordered from any vendor 3 times and every order was short I would believe it was intentional, there is no way it couldn’t be.Also a reputable deal will want to make any problems right. Silence is what allows these people to fleece other trappers. Animal aren’t the only things that get skinned in this trapping business.

That is not a good practice for any vendor if it appears deliberate. If we have a shortage, incorrect item, breakage or complaint we certainly make an effort to make things right for the customer. I would like to think that most all suppliers would do the same.

Heck I had a container of bait break open and Bob wanted to send me a brand new one, lol.

Ordered something from Kegs Creek and didn’t get it and they sent out another order. Two weeks later I got the original order and tried to send it back and they wouldn’t hear of it.

Ordered a ton from MTP and I swear they have Santa delivering for them. You hang up the phone or hit send on your order and the UPS guy rings the doorbell delivering it. I just want to meet their packers, I would’ve bet good money I was short on some orders based on the box size and to my dismay everything was in that small box!!!

Ordered from others on here and never had an issue.

Actually the “smaller” companies always throw something extra in the order. And I always call to let them know they did and I’d be happy to pay for it.

2 posts in total makes me a bit cautious. At least you didn't put them on blast.

We don't have any trapping suppliers anywhere near where I live. I think the closest thing we have is a fairly large mom and pop that sells all things out doors, its called The Kittery trading post in Maine. they are about 3 hours from me.
its an absolutely amazing place, I highly recommend checking them out if you're ever close to that area.

I order everything online, I've had good Experiences with Minnesota Trapline, FnT, Sterling Fur and PCS. usually the prices aren't the deciding factor, it's the shipping that can get expensive.

I just won't be doing business with the supplier in question anymore.

I'm fairly newly registered, been stalking these forums a long time though.

With the Days getting shorter I have a little more time to mess around on the internet.

I didn't start name dropping, Just because I've had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone has.
If it was a common occurrence from the supplier mostly likely everyone would know who I meant.

X2
I highly recommend KTP
I've driven 4 1/2 hours to go there a bunch of times. Plus there are bunch of other places to shop right nearby ( factory outlets )
Well worth the 4 1/2 hour trip.

I order everything from Gerald Schmitt. I have zero complaints. Usually if I order first thing in the morning, it ships that evening. If I order late at night, it ships the next afternoon. If I don’t see something listed on his site, I call and he will let me know by the next day if he can get it.

Nice to see another New Englander here.
We Don't have much up here in the North, But places like KTP are nice to have.

I've thought about opening up a General store and carrying Trapping supplies, Feed / Grain, Bear Bait as well as a small convenience store.

Hounds and Bear trapping are huge here. I just have to many Irons in the fire these days and I can't find anyone that wants to work or show up on time. So I'm a one man show

Funny story... I didnt realize until I was almost 30 that only Maine and Alaska allow bear trapping.

Wether it's intentional, who knows, but seriously, how hard is it to count, or do simple figuring, I don't care how busy you are.

Once, sure, mistakes happen, make it right, 3 times in a row? nope.....

I certainly would not have ordered from the Lousy Supply company the third time, and maybe not the second.

My experiences with two outstanding suppliers are that they usually add some extras with a note saying let us know what you think of these traps / swivels / connectors / stakes / lure / urine / bait, but my orders are quite large. Those outstanding suppliers are Minnesota Trapline Supply and PCS Outdoors.

Just want to give my shout out to FnT and MTP -- the best by a long shot in my experience.

When John was at PCS I had 4 out of 5 4 oz. bottles of Canine Call arrive broken... what a mess. I offered to get a statement from the post office (they just put the box in a plastic bag and delivered it), take pictures, whatever to prove it. John C. took my word, replaced it, and sent another extra 4 oz. of Natures Call for my original busted order. A pretty good loss to him, even at dealer prices... says a lot about John and the way he does business and his trust just on my word. BTW, I've never had a bad deal that wasn't squared up by any dealer in the last 30 years. During the fur hey-day back in the 80's a few dealers came and went.

FnT is the go to for me. Never had an issue with them and they’re quick with preparation and shipping.
