Did you read the persimmon seed? What's the weather going to be?
Never had the dish but it looks good. Recipe?

Need some more cold weather before ours will be ready to eat but the trees here are loaded this year. Should be some fat raccoons.

I had a recipe from the mother of someone I used to work with but couldn't find it. I found one on line that was similar. Mix all ingredients and bake in greased pan 325 degrees for 55 minutes. I cut back on the sugar a bit because the reviews said it was overly sweet.

I did not cut open a seed. I'll have to try that.

I have 3 trees planted i my back yard They are a Japanese variety This year they are covered with persimmons They normally do not ripen until late Oct to mid Nov The deer have been cleaning off the ones they can reach from the ground for 3 or 3 weeks this summer .The reason i I like mine is they hang on the trees until Feb .So I start like eating them And as soon as I can get enough of them I will try that recipe and likely add my name to the list of critters that eat them I enjoy having critters hanging around for about 4 months .Red and Gray fox raccoon possum squirrels coyote and deer all And sometimes the birds also eat the ones the hang on into the trees into winter

Dang, that looks good !
Many of mine fell early, sweet and soft well before even a frost. I picked them up every morning and had them every day like candy.
Now the tree is full of hard ones. Maybe they will be good after a freeze.
Never saw so many good ones fall so early. Some only had 1 see in them. And were big !

Always wondered if there was something to do with them ..... other than just gorge on em.
Thanks !

J Staton, my persimmon seed was a spoon. It was from a tree on the KY/VA line.

Last one was so good I ate almost the whole pan. Couldn't wait for more. I eat mine with a big dollar of cool whip.
